depends on the needs, the i5 is faster, while the i7 can handle more payload.

uhm, i'll give you a day to remove your inebriation, if it has a higher memory it will run faster.

inverse the i5 is faster because it higher processing speed. there it was that simple but it only has a 4mb cache
the i7 has a lower processing speed but more cache
i think thats what epik means.

i only know that there no need to pay more for the i7 if you can run with the i5

also inverse you may not have joined this year but you started the dumb sign-up streak.
*claps hand* well done you finally came first in something, everyone, give him a round of applause

If you honestly think *GHz is "processing speed", you're a total moron. It's simply the frequency (or clock speed) of the CPU. It's a very poor judgement of performance, as it's pretty much set to whatever their marketing plans decide.

The fact you would suggest a 3.2GHz dual core would "process" as fast as a 2.8GHz quad is just stupidity and ignorance. I'll grant you that at the moment, i5 is probably a wiser purchase , as it has a 32nm die, rather than the 45nm of the i7, which means it'll run cooler (thus the reason it's clock speed is higher in this range), and use less power. I believe it also has an integrated graphics processor, which would be useful should you need to deal with video card failures.

However, all this aside, suggesting that the i5 is in any way shape or form higher performing, is stupidity.

**** off, Kay. Grow a pair of balls and a few decades of maturity and then come back.

they are both insainly fast. Unless you are rendering some hardcore video or playing 6 games at once on the same machine...you won't tell a difference.
