So, I've been out of the game for a long time now. Every now and then I'll make something, and here's my latest. I hope everyone here is pro now.

I hope I'm "pro" enough for you :)

You definitely can tell you've been "out of the game" for awhile. Don't take that wrong, you show good signs of creativity but your actual work is missing a few things and could use some refining.

    A Little More Indepth

    Good.
You have a nice sense of render/cut-out position.

    Bad.
Your effects are scattered, have a lack of importance, no real direction and barely thought out.

    Creation of a Signature.
Whether you'd like to call it "spur of the moment" or "pure impulse art" once you start designing you always need a sense of direction, you could say you always end up having a design plotted in your head, whether you want to or not. In signatures you need a sense of purpose for your effects.

When I say purpose, I don't mean, "Well why is that effect there? What does it mean?". By purpose I mean it's place in the signature. There is always a layout in a signature, a direction to which you want your viewers to be pointed in. (Focal Point)

    Effects.
Effect - "A design created by an artist using photo-manipulation or an art programs tools."
It's Usage - "Usually in a signature, an effects main usage is to create an image that is appealing to the eye to help the main point of a signature be seen, to help express a point in a signature, or be apart of the message in signature. There are many different ways to place effects in a signature. Those were just main points. In the end effects all guide a viewer to the focal point, and help express a message in a signature."

Your effects don't help direct a viewer to your focal point. Which in this tag is the render/cut-out. They're basically floating randomness, surrounded by negative space.

    Background.
Usually you want to avoid negative space in a signature, but sometimes it's acceptable if used correctly. In your case I'd say try avoiding it for now.

A background is just as important as effects or render. It also speaks to viewers and helps give an idea about the signature.

Now this background isn't "oh so horrible", it still gives a good idea about the signature. It to me is saying it's snowing and cold. Basically a mountain top scenerio because of the blueish tinge you have in it.

I'll help you out in another signature.
For now that should help out. Do some more work and I'll try to stop in and help you out and see how you've progressed. I would say more but I'd be writing out a book :P and too much commentary sometimes isn't as effective as segmented commentary, especially when I'll have more opportunities to help you :)

    :) Hope I helped :)

Hopefully it's a requirement to be this thorough nowadays. I love the book, thank you. I can kind of feel a flow in it, but mostly because I did it. Others did not go through the process so I can see how only I can see where I was "trying" to go with that.

I felt as though the negative space just sort of fit hit. I actually don't consider it negative space unless it's completely empty or just one plain black/white color. There is some stuff there, but yeah, I suppose it's just not quite working. I was always behind, maybe I can catch back up if I try. I usually only make things when I feel like it, however, coming back here after years makes me want to start again.

Yeah, I understand :) Trust me if I could see what I see in others art in mine. I'd be amazing at making them lol. That's why I still post on here, kuz I know how I see it but the actual mess ups and idea's aren't what you think they are, and usually you don't notice unless it's pointed out. and even though you have a few things there. I'm talking about the color in the background, it's a negative space still, just chucked out. sometimes it can work I just personally don't see it fitting for this. I do see potential in your idea behind it though.

P.S. unfortunately I think I'm the only one on this sight that comments like that.

Clash is a decent commentor he's atleast smart and gives correct C&C, just he doesn't comment like a book :P I don't know too many people who would be so curtious though :) just for some reason I enjoy typing, and helping.

I agree with Concept, but I kinda got this "Snowy" feeling from the tag. I don't like the neg space though. Too... Bland. Some depth would help a lot in this tag. ;)
But I like it overall. ^_^

    Let's see some more.
