here's an idea... let's start a group effort to get things done.
I'd argue that there are at least 100 people on GR who can be trusted to put in some work for the site if everyone does a little bit...
if even 1/4th of that group puts in a decent effort(15mins a day) into recruiting and making new people comfortable, we can get some growth.

one of our issues here is the gross elitism of our senior members, we like to let everyone know what we're better than them... it's the right spirit to have.

Go away, noob. Us social elites don't care for your kind around here.

If we were to try recruit new people, what would we be drawing them in with?

sexual favors... err offers of friendship and BS and a chances to learn and grow in their graphic design journey.

on another note, why can't the old timers FAKE being nice?
instead of saying "I'm frustrated, you're an idiot you could have done this check the search button yada yada"
consider "I'd normally be glad to help you out, but this has been posted a few times, try using the search feature. If you have anymore questions, let me know."

there are a lot of people here guilty of doing the former over the latter.

I'm always an ass, to my bosses, co-workers, customers, online, etc.

    It isn't limited to GR.

Honestly. GR is a wilting orchid, has been since 06. We cannot reverse this process. I know this is where i spent my teenage years. I wouldnt mind spending my adulthood watching the last petals drop.

    NO HOMO

and you have an administrator's tag on you.
you might work your ass off, you might be the most competent admin ever, but if new people are intimidated by you then that's not good.

new members are the life of this place.

Never really cared how anyone feels about me. There is a reason I designated myself as the admin in control of staff and general forum management rather than moderation, advertising, etc. The only time I bother getting involved in public topics like this anymore is when someone calls out me, the admins, or the GR staff out, otherwise I generally just stay quiet.

As far as new members being the sole future of the website, good luck with that. Just about every search you can do regarding renders, gaming, graphics, etc. pops up GRs link within the top 5 (given, PR and AR generally show higher). The opportunity for GR to expand when over 230k members were here in the past (note: removed many, many accounts) has long since gone. The only way to gain productive amounts of activity is to spark the old members back into activity. To get them to start producing resources and posts worthy of others returning and doing the same, or to entice the few tens of thousands of people who remain interested in the gaming graphics online design field.

Well, if the powers that be want to give me a shot at it...it can't hurt.

I'll put a few tutorials together and see where those go. GR can only go forward :P
