    PERSONALITY.

You know, I been watching these forums since 04, I signed up in 05, The only thing I noticed was how kids felt the need to act all cocky because they learn how to NOT use a brush in photoshop.

I STILL will always see one thing when I see a signature underneath a post.

YOUR Personality. and to be honest, most of them SUCK lately, lol...

I'm just saying, QUIT Focusing on how many layers of non-brushing you can create and create what sticks out to you. GG.

    Discuss.

Granted I still used brushes on those but I made the brush match with the sig. Not just slapping it on there randomly. And ive seen many sigs be ruined by people getting crazy with filters etc. Brushes arnt cheating. With practice you can use them and make it look really great.

Good shit, but my point is, If you use brushes and filters to make a signature to your liking, Don't be ashamed about it.

Exactly. It's the same with giving critique; all nice and well but in the end it's always a subjective leaning to how you interpret something.
What one person likes, the other might dislike.

True, there are stuff that more people like or dislike, but it doesn't really matter in the end. If the person who made it likes it, then that's all that matters really :)

Biggest load of bs I've read in a while. It's never been anything to do with personality or individuality. It's everyone seeing a few good sig makers and furiously trying to copy their style precisely. The community's always done a pretty good job of stamping out any cocky SoB's that try to tell us all that their art is unique and that they dont follow trends or fads.

There's maybe 0.005% of all sigmakers that actually have a unique style, and the other 99.995% of people are just trying to copy them. I've always fallen in the latter as far as sig making goes, but I'm not going to bullsh*t my way out of it.

If people's sigs suck, its because they have no skillz, not because they're not applying their personality or individuality.

    techniques will always differ
when i joined up it was all grunge and abstract brushes, after that standard and filters, smudge, c4d's , clipping masks, realism (god i loved realism) and most of those combined.
the quality of the end result has nothing to do with the techniques you used, but the skill you have in said techniques. so yeah Inverse is pretty much right

i dont really see how you can find out someones personality by looking at one sig.

People tend to put things they like into sigs. Like me you can probably tell that I like anime and cars. Just to me doing sigs with anything else seems boring.

my sigs always represent me maybe not my personality but my favorite things, i take ppls critique but in the end i like to stick with my own style which doesn't follow others. I like being different and even tho most ppl don't like them, i do and i make them for myself anyway lol i mean i am the one that wears it around on forums lol

And to be honest i love using brushes and always have i am not a C4D user i would rather use a brush lol again because i dont follow the trend , i would rather be happy with my own work then follow other trends and be just like everyone else

But thats just me :) ;);)

You only say you don't follow trends because you're a beginner. Your sigs look exactly the same as every beginners sigs. Over-contrasted, poorly blended, monotonous, etc.

Every newb says they have their own style, but they don't. In fact, any artwork that relies on renders is inherently unoriginal.

mm i see where you're comin from invese. when they do start out they do kinda look the same but i think as they go on they go into their own style but yeah i guess i understand that you really cannot put your personality onto a sig lol maybe an LP or some sorta other art but not a sig.

Actual individual style in artwork only comes at an extraordinarily high level. If you want to see individual style you'd have to check out the likes of Dan Mumford or Jeff Finley, who's work can be recognized as theirs by style alone. But as far as basic signature techniques (and advanced ones too), it's less technique and more repetition.
