    Hand out a credit to every GR account in existence and use it as an excuse to mail everyone to tell them that they received one credit. Maybe some people just forgot about it and if it was brought up we could have a wave of people dusting off their PS/Gimp/etc.

    I'm just a newcomer. :(

    Pretty sure I'm speaking for the majority, Shaggy- We don't CARE about V4. We care for change(s). I'm with Andrew on having a change at a time. Once per 2 weeks/month/whatever, introduce a new element to GR. In essence; cramming is pointless & irrelevant.

    Personally, I think V4 as a "one-hitter" or some "major upgrade" = mistake. The one thing killing it is the one thing that hasn't happened, no sign of it happening, loss of hope even if it did happen and most importantly all care in it happening. Excitement turned into exhausting. A surprise turned into an upset. People used to care; and now they've quit. If you were new to a forum and saw the very first thread "V4 Update" and saw it dated over a year ago, wouldn't you think that the sites dead? If it were a year back it would be a different story. Don't cheat yourself with misconceptions. Now is much different than before; we've lost members/traffic/activity- basically a thumbs-down to every aspect of GR. Make one big change (the design/layout), then work on that other quite o'magical stuff that you're working on for 2 years now. WE, the current members/staff that want GR to survive will do our part in making it a success. 15 new concepts, rules, sections, etc all at once? So not cool.

    "V4" isn't a factor in GR's survival as some seem to perceive. Change is.

    I couldn't tell you what the difference between v1 and v3 is.

    The design, layout, staff, IPB mods, and few other stuff.
    V1 -> V2 was like that,
    V2 -> V3 was like that,
    V3 -> V4 well... the update is more special than the actual site, so it's not like that.

    I did that, with the download section, battle mod, and still it didn't help much. I think the talk of v4 and it not coming is what hurt GR. People got hyped up and it never came, so it pissed them off and left. I have a feeling if we never talked/promise V4, GR would be in better shape then it is now.

    Its funny you say that BS. I haven't changed anything to the site to cause users to leaveand still the site has died down. Its the members that make or break the site, not the staff. :rolleyes:

    Quite a few things have happen on this site, if you were active on the site you would know about it. And if you still think nothing has happen, I guess theres no communication between you and the other admins.

    The marketplace and the credit system made what this site was - that is where all the forum activity occurred as well as the incentives for artists to spend time and produce quality graphics. When those artists left, people stopped buying graphics, which meant that less tutorials were produced, and everyone had an abundance of credits on their account (which decreased the value of the credit from the 200:1 ratio to 400:1 in a span of a few months...)
    Remove the credit system if you'd like, but the marketplace and the credit system is what made GR what it was.

    I can't say I've been an active member on this forum - I haven't been active in over a year and haven't made a single post in months... but I was once a very active member, and it's extremely sad to see how this forum has declined. But I still believe the demise was inevitable irrespective of the course of action (that was going to be) taken by Shaggy and the rest of the staff. And when did Neuron become a staff member? Absolutely ridiculous... The last time I was in Gamerenders, he was abusing the reputation system just because it was broken (and still is...)

    Neuron was just a dick. He gave me some warns, and then f*cked off a few weeks after he got admin.

    Neuron Warned on Nov 2 2009, 08:23 AM
    Added to warn level Evading word filter, doesn't seem to respect anyone's opinions, feels the need to have some smart ---- to say to someone in every single topic. I could go on and on. Vacation time again.

    Added to warn level talking about warez in show your desktop thread.
    Neuron Warned on Oct 16 2009, 01:29 PM
    Added to warn level Spamming...

    The 1 month ban I got for "talking about warez in show your desktop thread." was me simply mentioning the site tehparadox.com while mentioning my Opera search function hotkeys. He and most of the other global admins that got appointed recently turned out to be a total douche.

    Graphic design is so whored out now, anyone can do it. GR died cause everyone kept joining other GFX forums, got banned, started their own, or realized that it's a lot easier getting people to do this crap for you and not give anything back in return.

    Gamerenders' staff love the banhammer, that's for sure. The decision to lift all bans is for no other reason than because they ban too much, and too fast. Losing active members (including myself back then), people leave because of the loss of active members and they make their own site.
    True story.

    And Master really has a point, sure, V4 could've been good, if it wasn't delayed for so long. Besides, updating the forum wouldn't be sufficient.

    All that you've mentioned only made ---- harder, bigger, and more intricate on top of something that needed quite the opposite, including: a change of CURRENT (at the time) situations, problems, promises, updates, fixes, removals, etc. Although what you added was obviously meant for good, 'new', and extra fun, it wasn't the fix that GR was looking for and/or needed. It needed renovation and a revamp. You can clean and shine a turd; but it's still a piece of sh1t.

    What scares me is that you and the 'leaders', and I say so lightly, of this website, still seem to have the same tunnel vision of adding adding adding removing adding removing removing adding to GR. Seriously, read a year ago or whenever the "Update to V4" thread was posted; all that was hoped for was one or two changes and a lot of removals and addons.

    The ONLY hope for GR is for it to be drawn out on a piece of paper, every element/aspect/everything of GR, pick a group of people wanting the same "good" for GR, sit down and work the jigsaw. F*ck adding stuff, F*ck removing stuff, F*ck changing stuff in pointless ways. REVAMP everything about it. I've said it plenty times, I'll say it again... Re-Design GR. Re-Do Credit + Reputation system, Keep whatever is agreed on as beneficial (i.e. battle mod), re-structure the forum a bit, put back the emphasis on stuff that people have been wanting, asking, begging and crying for (i.e Marketplace, Renders, Premium Tuts, Everything-Games, Entertainment, Technology, restart SotW and the rest, and so on) and then you advertise your face off in thousands of ways.

    New people will flock in as they will see the member base is huge, old people will return as they will see activity base is up, and from then on.. well... you can finally have pride in saying GameRenders. From being the best to basically the worst is pretty crappy. However; that only shows me the room that we have to get back on our feet.

    I beg for you to explain to me how any part of that isn't true or shouldn't happen?
    With more than a handful of site (and forum) experience, that's happened to me 4 times and with that same layout I exceeded my own expectations. It's all in the look/feel of the forum, and then the advertising.

    PS: Shaggy idk if you remember, but me and you have worked on sites before, including this one. I was one of the first 5,000 original members of this site and I feel like I know exactly what this site needs.. IDGAF about staff/admin positions, I'm sure there are more like me, just let a group of people with my desire for this site to help you work on this site so it will finally not be a depressive dawning shame.
