You are oh so wrong about that part. The people don't make a community, its the staff who does that. You can't let people east ---- and be angy the smell ;)

You as an admin (and the others) and the people who should carry this website and make sure the masses are entertained, if you fail on that people will leave.

The search button on the top of the site is obviously too hard to see or any non-retard would have used it, so instead you go to a more trivial means and show him how easy Google is to use.

Newflash: this site hasn't had any typography tutorials ever to my knowledge (and if they did I doubt they were worth two ----s tbh, as theres literally maybe 5 people on this site I've known to be good at typography), and scan lines are not a tutorial depicted on GR either.

If he wanted a tutorial on how to do a sig from scratch or how to render something, then I'd have pointed him towards our tutorial section (where I'm pretty sure all the good render tutorials are also expired by now).

If you want to know why the site is inactive it's because the members of the community choose to do nothing about it and want everything handed to them on a platter. You only get out of a site what you put into it as a community member, and the community here rarely puts anything in and expects to get paid in gold. That should be common sense to anyone who has run a graphics community (or any community for that matter) like you have.

Perhaps if you were ever actually active here you would have seen the man hours the staff has put into this site to get nothing in return. Unfortunately for you, you haven't been around at all for that, now have you? There is only so much staff can do for a site before it ultimately comes down to the members responsibility to pull it together.

I see 1 tutorial which was posted recently, by someone I've never head of. The other tutorials date back over 2 years and the images are broken, this further enforces my point, some of the newer people are making an effort, but you don't see work put out by people like Broken as a means to help the community anymore (where we used to have high end artists contributing on a daily basis).

Again, posted over 2 years ago, and it's rather surprising that the image is still up. In either case it's common sense, it's nothing advanced, and it doesn't go into the intricacies of text. Summarized it essentially says, 'put some letters on your sig and work with it until it looks good'. Other than that it serves mostly as a means to familiarize yourself with what the text tool palette does (ie bold, underline, italic, etc.)

    Sure we could :)

Just think its a bit lame to blame the members of a site. The staff is always responsible for what happens or what doesn't happens. Me not posting here doesnt mean I havent been here. I see staff tryed something.. just not the right thing ;)

///Edit... dont ask me what the right thing is, hell i havent been into these sites enough lately ;)

I don't want to be a pain in the ass, but how is giving a google link putting a lot into the community?
I know you're a good guy dem, but not everyone knows you, a new guy would only seen horid elitism. Heck, we might've lost what would've been an active member from this thread alone. a little niceness goes a long way.

Who said I was attempting to promote 2 year old tutorials over Google?

Frankly, I'd almost prefer people at least searched google before making a thread. Searching using the search tool has always proven difficult for members of this site.

tbh bratzer and xlink are right. you cant ask one simple question here without getting 20 stupid ass comments insulting you, telling you to ------ off , get out, or an absolutely unnecessary nostalgic response . youre lucky if you get one SLIGHTLY helpful response. as a gfx forum that is supposed to be full of knowledgeable people, google links are not very acceptable answers. Especially if its one of the lmgtfy.com links. those just make people feel like an ------. people at this site have always, but especially lately, been dicks that just like to type instead of offering any real information and it definitely pushes people away. an admin is supposed to be the most helpful and very welcoming. i know the staff theoretically does a lot(assuming g4 is such an immense project that it is taking so long and not a bs fairytale like most of us are assuming) but what needs to be realized is that all can be done without an attitude and abundance of arrogance. like xlink said, a little niceness goes a long way. if an admin seems to be that way it serves as a reflection on the site.

now bring on the insults, suggestions to get out, and stupid ass sarcasm
