I'm trying to install windows 7 home premium 64bit on a computer that is currently running vista 32bit. I have tried booting to the DVD i got (from microsoft) through the boot menu, and by changing the bios to boot from cd to start with. Neither work, it says "Boot from CD/DVD: " waits a few seconds, then boots into vista anyways, and when I try to explore the dvd inside of vista it does not even recognize that there is a disk in the drive. (although i'm not sure if that's normal since the dvd has 64bit software on it.) However on my laptop which already is running 64bit windows ultimate, I can boot to the dvd just fine. I'm wondering what the issue is with the computer, any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried pressing a key when it says "Boot from CD/DVD"?

Typically it will only boot from the DVD if you do.

Yes I hit a key, but normally, it will say "Boot from CD/DVD: " then after that on another line it says, "press any key to continue" or something along those lines. And the DVD does boot on yet another computer running an old version of 32bit windows 7, (build 7000)

In the BIOS settings, theres also a setting, in some , that you can load up 2 different OS. So check around the Boot Menu, if its there.
    At least mine has it.
