Well then, sounds like most of America's youth is ------ed if the need for their pictures arise.

Don't you get it? It isn't just about the pictures, it's about power and control over you. They will blackmail and do whatever the need be in order to get you where they want you. There's just so much to it that can't be explained that easily.

They track everything you do, every message you send privately, every status you change, everywhere you login from, they are tracking you. I'll post another video here where Obama himself warns people of being careful whilst using Facebook and with the content they are sharing as it would get to them sometime later...

    Here's the other video:

Paranoia. Anything you put on the internet in a public site, you instantly lose control of. If you think you can ever 100% delete anything off the internet you are wrong. And regardless of ownership of content, under standard privacy laws they still have to conform to, they cannot sell or distribute images of your likeness without your permission.

People need to stop being little whiny b!tches and realize that if they put something on a publically accessible website they lose control over what happens to it.

so i was confused when they were talking about the TOS, has this rule always been in the terms of service but was never publicized or was it added in?

    What about content you delete?

    also,
I think it'd only really be a major problem if you posted about your crack cocaine addiction then became a celeb.. or something along those lines

I just read their TOS again today on IP and was unimpressed.

They don't own anything. You give them a non-exclusive license to the content that you can revoke at any time. Your personal information isn't covered by this section because it's not intellectual property; it's covered by the privacy policy.

http://www.useplus.com/useplus/glossary.asp has legal terms used in licenses if you don't understand something.

There's really nothin' to worry about. Not sure why we're so concerned when the largest image you can have is 600px.

There is actual evidence that proves that the CIA has connections to Facebook. Past CIA operatives have funded Facebook through various channels and have tunneled money through faux companies.

Because the CIA is so interested in what kind of pizza you're eating right now... Let's face it, most of us have boring lives the government is uninterested in. They already have my address, phone number, name, and spouse on file somewhere. Aside from that, Facebook cannot legally divulge any information without law enforcement offering a decent enough excuse, otherwise they'll be lying in their privacy policy.

Let some poor sap laugh about some fact in my life, there's really nothing else to be had from having access to my Facebook. Or my phone conversations (although you would learn that I'm directionally impaired if you listened often enough). Or the conversations I have on the bus, which are recorded for security reasons anyway (people do start fights on buses, after all). Heck, the government could install a key logger for all I care. They have all my private numbers stored somewhere anyway. It's not that I encourage this behavior; I just don't care.

I guess the privacy of ones self doesn't effect you. I mean ---- mine as well video tape you in the bathroom, or while your having intercourse. Really doesn't matter right? Where does it end, and where does it begin. IMO it will only get worse and worse if you DON'T care. This isn't some conspiracy it's really a fight for your rights. If thousands of soldiers were willing to die for them, and you will say meh it doesn't really matter. You have lost, the soldiers have lost. GTFO

lol you really don't have a clue of what you're talking about.

Privacy isn't the issue. They have to abide by privacy laws just like any other company in the US (and most of the rest of the world). You can't contract out of these obligations. The fact that Facebook has changed the contract giving them ownership of any content posted from the time its posted til the time it's deleted isn't uncommon. People who don't understand the law tend to get worked up over nothing.

ep0cx, you're talking a load of sh!t. This doesn't have anything to do with soldiers or the army.

Im not a member of facebook, but in general our privacy is our business. I know they have to go by certain laws and no way am I knowledgeable in that area. But in general not having a concern for someones privacy is really just poor judgment; which the person I had quoted was talking about. Wasn't just talking about the facebook privacy.
