So what is everyone's take on this. Having seen several interviews and such, I feel that the family had staged all of this. The innocence of their children revealed to the country that this was all a hoax. Do you think they lied or were telling the truth?
It was a hoax, they already basically admitted to it. The family loves to be on TV, you can tell because the first answer the father gave to any interview questions started off with, 'well we've been on wife swap twice now'. He is an amateur actor (and you can find his old wife swap videos, he puts on a show, dancing and singing all over like he was in a fucking cartoon) who is just obsessed with getting on television. Later in the interview the interviewer brought up that his kid had mentioned, 'I did it for the show' or something like that, and the guy took a while to respond and then went off on this defensive tangent about how he was appalled that the media could ever possibly accuse him of lying about such a thing. When prompted for an adequate answer again his attitude entirely changed (obviously he had enough time to think up a more legitimate excuse, which was pretty shit to be honest). This is all entirely disregarding that the balloon wasn't an 'invention' like he claimed, it was a simple model you can pick up anywhere, and a helium balloon. There is no way that a helium balloon could lift a 9 year old kid who weighs 50-60 pounds. Overall, a bunch of wannabe 'actors' trying to weasel their way onto TV.
I figured it was a lie when: -The kid said it was for the show. -The balloon couldn't get airborne with that weight.
Exactly. The base was made out of cardboard, and was floating 7000 feet high moving at fast speeds. The kid would of broken through/fell out.
We didn't know that, or the size/speed when it was flying in the air. I hope that family goes to jail.
All threads should just stop being made. I think the correct thing to do instead of post here on the forum is just msg dementia. He is the answer book to all of life's questions; facts or opinions - all correct. Lol
Lie for me mostly for that reason. Also, I saw a video of it happening and they said they were just doing a test of the balloon and it was tethered down. Then the tethers broke and that's how the whole fiasco started. If you were right there when it took off wouldn't you know if your son was on the balloon or not? Just doesn't make sense.
when i saw the kid go "you guys said it was for the show" on the wolf blitzer interview i was laughing so damn hard.
Thank God they found balloon boy, I was afraid that Michael Jackson was ordering take out from heaven
