So, I just got my copy of Windows 7 in today. It was a freebie, and much to my surprise, it was the Ultimate Signature Edition. Not too sure what the difference will be, but we'll see. I'm currently installing the 64-bit version, but they did give me the 32-bit as well. Not too sure how many of you out there got a chance to play with the betas or RC's, but for those who did, are there any noticeable differences between Vista and 7? I've heard reports that speeds might be increased a hair, but nothing else.
General speed not so much, but the booting and shutting down has gone faster for me. Aside from that, it's mainly a finetune of Vista and a bit of a graphic overhaul. I really do like the new taskbar though, really convenient for me.
Booting and shutting down is also for me a good improvement... And indeed, didnt really manage to find the big differents in Windows 7......Its a little bit faster, and the graphics are better....But I believe thats it...
It's a common mistake to assume there was anything wrong with the pre-W7 beta builds of Vista. It ran smoothly, quickly, and efficiently for me. Any issues people had with it were their own, and not the OS's. Most people just don't know how to find and update drivers.
I liked vista over XP it was smoother and more stable I like win 7 over vista a fair bit though. I've been running windows 7 since the alpha days as my primary OS.
it has some extra features over vista, like libraries which is really handy, and ofcourse the superbar which works awesome
Well, it's certainly stable, although I don't know if it's more stable than Vista, as I never had any problems with Vista and stability.
Compared to Vista, Windows 7 is a more efficient operating system with faster performance. What I like is the new taskbar, and how it doesn't pester me with messages asking if I really want to do this or that.
