As you all know I am trying to help spread the word of my friends art, do you know of any ways to get some good advertising done for a business that's starting from ground zero? Most, if not all small businesses when they first start obviously don't have access to tons of funds, so how do you think they advertise and get their name out? Any ideas?
Find your target audice and which high traffic sites they frequent. I know of someone who uses adverts on decently popular webcomics through Project Wonderful and saw an immidiate boost in visits for not too much money. The best no money alternative is offer friends rewards to visit anime, game, and leet forums and street team. Not in an annoying OMG LOOK AT THIS SITE way but by tossing in her art links in threads about cool finds on the net.
I'd say make a journal on Deviant Art. Sig space Join a couple forums and be -------active there. Put the ad in your sig space again. All i can think of atm cool drawings btw
use the social networking places to your advantage, join twitter/facebook/myspace add lots of randoms and just tweet/post about it with a link included saying how amazing her art is. Join forums and such and put it in your signature, google online networking to think of other ideas. Its not hard to get people to go somewhere if your putting in the effort. If you do deviant art do a could of collections or whatever they call it where people group up images of a like kind and post it. When im bored or looking for a background i go there instead of browsing by catagory and such and end up finding lots of cool pics that i wasnt even hunting for in the first place
I already take advantage of twitter/facebook/myspace, etc. I have a signature on deviantART that I have a link to her page and I post on a LOT of art. Nearly 4000 comments in a week. I've gotten her like 3000 views in the past week, Something like that. I'm doing a lot. I was just seeing if anyone had more ideas
I'm a club promoter and a business major - simplicity is the best way to go.. Just get the name out there.. Go for any free advertising possible.. Try to get hooked up with some free/cheap space in a newspaper that fits your target audience if you can (not sure what you'd give as an incentive to the people producing the paper, lol). Best way to go is Facebook... You can try posting up flyers to advertise where you have a link to the website on tabs that are cut separately, ready to be ripped off. Good luck
I think the most pageviews come from one word in this: "Help support my friends artwork! (She draws boobies, what more could you want?!)"
C'mon. 4Chan is fantastic! Besides the obvious (Forums/Social Networking), get Internet Business ---, set it up to continuously hit her link via Google and it should push it closer to the top of the search results.
I'd let your friend do the advertisement, unless there's something in it for you. Just not something I'd waste my time in.
Most people I know use word of mouth. One photographer I met over the weekend said he's never even done any marketing. A lot of people will also just hand out business cards, even if they know there's no chance of getting the job. You never know, that person might know someone who needs work done that is in your expertise. I know that a lot of people keep folders full of resumes and business cards they've received, as weird as that may sound. One instructor here even has a folder of the worst resumes she's ever received.
