Try out some fantasy books. I've been reading a series called The Chronicles of Amber. I'm liking it a lot so far.

I can't promise that you'd like the series, since the books you like are at the different end of my "likeness" spectrum.

    • Dreams from my father - Barack Obama (currently reading and liking)
    • Blindness - José Saramago
    • The Road - Cormac Mccarthy (same bloke who wrote 'no country for old men')
    • The Southern Vampire Mysteries - Charlaine Harris (~ true blood series is based on these books. It's a more mature -read sexual- version of twilight and sorts)
    • Magnus mills books (just absurd plots that hold up a lot of truth to them in the end ^^)

Great books there except of course 'The Catcher in the Rye', we don't need more people murdering our favorite rock legends. The Power of One is an excellent book, I read a few Bryce Courtney books after it but would still maintain it is the best of them. As for my suggestions, I am an avid fantasy reader so most will be in said genre:

    A Game of Thrones - George R R Martin
The Eye of the World - Robert Jordan
    The Gunslinger - Stephen King
    River God - Wilbur Smith
When the Lions Feeds - Wilbur Smith
A Falcon Flies - Wilbur Smith
In Cold Blood - Truman Capote
For Whom the Bell Tolls - Ernest Hemingway
War and Peace - Leo Tolstoy

and many more I do not have the time to write.

If you like 1984 you'll love this, its what 1984 is based on, surprised no one else mentioned it.
