For anyone interested - head over to http://www.aiononline.com/ to take a look at the game (most of you should have probably heard of it, but w/e) - The open beta starts tomorrow, Sept 6th and goes through the 13th. Early access begins on the 20th and the game is officially released to the public on the 22nd/23rd/25th (for US, AUS and EU respectively). I played in the last closed beta and the game is definitely worth a shot if you like games like Lineage 2, Guild Wars, City of Heroes/Villains and Everquest. It has a lot of potential for PvE if they expand on it, but for now its mostly a PvP oriented game (and when I mean 'mostly' I mean to the extent that Guild Wars is a PvP game - It's pretty much all PvP atm).

As I say with all games, take to it with an open mind (hence why I am not subjecting my opinions here) - Keep in mind, especially considering it is an MMO, that it hasn't had the player base and years worth of design to polish off all the rough edges like World of Warcraft has, but for those of us who played WoW when it was still new we all know how coarse it was and how far it has come in terms of being polished. It has already shown a near 3 million person player base over in Asian realms (S KR, CN, and JP) in the short few months it has been live over there (a year in Korea, months in the other areas).

Open beta will be online in just over 10 minutes - If you're at all interested in picking the game up on live to see how it plays there are still open beta keys floating around you can get to play it free of charge.

You need to recieve a beta key, so I wouldn't call it an "open-beta". I'd consider that a "closed-beta part two".

There are literally tens of websites with thousands of keys giving them out.

It isn't a closed beta, it just isn't a 'omg you know the aion website so therefore you get to join the game early'

I don't really get what this game has that's giving it so much hype.

    Can someone tell me?

Mostly amazing graphics to be entirely honest.

It's also a fresh MMO, and lately the only good MMO has been going down the shitter to most veteran players (WoW) - It makes Aion seem like a solid alternative.
