    Hey

Shinybinary has provided a different technique of rendering other then just using the polyganol lasso tool
I've been trying figure his rendering technique out for hours...I know its bad.. here are the steps

look at step 6 and thats where it begins..I don't get how he rendered the water splash..using the techniwue he did.. if your able to render that splash image using his technique and able to give me persice direction i'll give you 500 credits or even more..I heard its easy.. just some reason i'm not getting something

He clicks on the channel tab (next to the layers tab) and then duplicates the red channel layer.
He then goes to Image > Adjustments > Curves and he clicks (using the black eye dropper tool) on the items he wants to be transparent in the final image (usually you would click on the Background) he clicks on the grey. The result is a high contrasted image of the water very white and the Background black.
Next he control clicks for PC/ command clicks for macs the "red copy" layer which results in selecting all of the water parts.
Then he turns the RGB layer back on, then turns the red copy layer off so you see the original colored image once again.
Next go to Edit > Copy you selection.
    Make a new layer.
    Then Edit > Paste.
    Fin.

Heres my outcome using the image from the tutorial you linked (i just copy/pasted it then extracted using his techniques)

hey I tried your way and yet didn't get a transparent background..i'll explain what I do..

    Open layer,
    Click Channels,
Select Red Channel and Copies it.
Result is a new channel appears as red copy,
Red copy is the only one on..., rgb, red, green, blue are off at this point.
    I go into curves
selectr the black eye dropper tool
    click on the grey background
result is it turns to black.
    then i push OK,
    select all
turn on GRB "turns on all channels below"
    I turn off "red copy"
then i selectr all and copy and paste into a new layer and nothing....

    what am I missing?
