Some know, some don't, but I'm doing this project about Shakespeare and it will involve me creating a site. Now, I've put some thought into it and I've come to the conclusion that it would be best if I were to use some sort of Content Management System. Wordpress is too bloglike so that's not really what I'm looking for. So I was wondering if anyone here had a quality CMS suggestion, preferably with the ability to edit it greatly.
what kinda options would you like to have in a cms like lots off plugins etc? or just easy adding news and stuff
Mainly just easy news adding, creating additional pages swiflty (so Css-based template - which I can alter at will then)
Looks good from a first glance. I'll inspect it (~download) it later on and check it more thoroughly. Thanks for the link
Wordpress is actually quite customizable even with low knowledge of coding. I used this (http://www.wpdesigner.com/2007/02/19/so-you-want-to-create-wordpress-themes-huh/) to create a new blank page with a fresh installation of WP. Considering that you've owned (and I assume created) web sites before, it shouldn't be much of a problem to further customize it while still having articles on Shakespeare.
If my mind serves me right (its been a while since I have used it) it is pretty easily customisable through the CSS . Correct me if I am wrong though.
I have a lot of experience with it, but it's too blog-like. I'm into creating an actual site, rather than a blog.
I'd still say Wordpress is the best, because you can customize it in every concievable way. Although if you really don't want to use it, check out Drupal. A lot of support from the community behind it, a lot of customization options and open-source.
Joomla or Wordpress are your best bets. Wordpress is great for content management and extremely customizable. There are a ton of plugins and templates for it as well.
I am indeed tempted to go back to wordpress for it's convenience, but I just can't find a template to suit my needs. I don't want any of those typcial 2-column/3-column things because like I said, it's too bloglike.
