Sharp Aquos HDTV. Any size. I have had my 42" for over a year with bluray player and xbox 360 attached. No complaints, lots of happiness.

I wouldn't quite go for a Vizio one for gaming. Those (walmart-made) TVs don't last too long, and its more primarily for businesses to hang on the wall, as their detail is not so great up-close; which kind of is the opposite of what you want in a TV for gaming.

Sharp Aquos, LG, Samsung or Sony are the top of the line TVs right now as far as quality. I would definitely choose a TV from one of the listed brands if you're looking for the best bang. I can personally account for any one of those TVs, as not only have I sold them for 3+ years, but I own an LG which is in my room hooked up to my computer, 360, Wii and PS3, and there's a Samsung in my living room. My previous TV was a Sharp, and that was quite a TV also.

No LCD tv of those sizes will have good quality up-close. What we're talking about is PPI, not resolution. Say you had a 21" computer monitor with a native resolution of 1920x1080 (1080p), and a 42" TV with the same resolution. The quality when reviewing media/text/images on the monitor, will be the same at 1metre as the TV at 2 metres. Same resolution spread across twice the viewing area = lower quality. That's why standard definition media (640p and below), look terrible up close on a high resolution monitor, but from an appropriate viewing distance, the difference is indistinguishable. That's why I would never use an LCD TV as a PC monitor, and expecting any decent quality viewed up close on a 42" LCD TV is stupid.

    Read the responses, seriously.

Someone already said Vizio's are cheaply made and have a short life span, and then went on to give you a good list of TVs which are of high quality. Personally, I love Sony and Samsung. They are a fair but more pricey than the other brands, given, but they are definitely the best picture quality I have seen. For bang/buck, I would probably go with LG, they have made a great name for themselves and generally offer quality electronics at a portion of other brands.
