Hello again. I have some issuse whit my router. Recentally, I bought new laptop. I also bought a router. The model is D-LINK's D.R.I 400. I bought it at cost of around 100$. That alot, I think for a router, nowdays. So I tought it would be good becouse of the hight price and the sellman recommended it. I connted everyting and it worked. BUT The wireless singel is poor. and I cannot connect to the lap top whit it. I callled to D-LINK's support center. I told them that I have 2 floors house. That should be a problem was the answer. I called my ISP or ISP and asked them what I can do or help me. They said that they can't help me becouse my 2-floors house. There is another company (non-cabel) and they wan't twice the money so I've dropped it. My qestion for you guys is what should I do? Do you have 2 floors house and have the same problem or don't? I don't know if its helpfull or not, my internet speed is 5 Mega. and the disstance between the router and the laptop is about 12 meters. Please reply becouse I can't find an aswer to this problem...
Get Netgear its great or if you don't want to pay for another router get a wireless bridge see if you can connect from up close and reply back.
You can buy a wireless repeater to "amplify" the signal, put your laptop right next to the router to see if it is the distance or the actual router having a problem. Also, having your antenna pointed towards where your going to be and moving it up higher are good suggestions, you can also buy a stronger antenna. I recently bought a router for 30 dollars and get signal ALMOST all the way across my 1 story house.
I have a laptop and I catch 3 signals from my neighbors... idk why you shouldn't get a signal in your house. I can go anywhere in the house and get a signal. I think mine is a d-link as well. Probably more on my laptop end though since I catch neighbor signals as well.
