Unless hes doing ----- digital art work theres no need for him to buy an intous, a bamboo is fine.

At first I thought you were speaking about the H1N1 tablets but then I realized.. Loll.. Sorry.. What Broken said because I haven't really had that much of an experience with a Tablet PC which I had for 3 weeks before giving it to my family.

    Oof?
The point is that at some stage he's going to want to upgrade from a Bamboo to an Intuos.

If you're buying a tablet, why not just save up that -little- bit longer to get something about £50 more expensive and far better at it's job?
That and you can get a Wacom Intuos 3 A5 for about the same price, if not cheaper than a Bamboo.

Aight well, as I said, later today I'll have a look at all of them.
I don't paying a little extra if it's gonna make a big difference.

I take it the Intuos 3 is fairly good quality?
On the site they seem to be... a lot.

    Anyway, I'll see what happens.

Also, I'm assuming they come with a pen thingo or do you need to buy that separately?

Either way, if I find a Intuos cheaper or a little bit more expensive than the bamboo I'll definitely buy it.

I use both a intous and a bamboo, for graphic work an a6 bamboo is perfect, for matte paintings and high resolution work a intous is good. Unless hes doing that, then anything other than a bamboo is pointless and him upgrading is pointless and overkill.

    Ok, thread can be closed.
Got a Bamboo Fun (bigger + mouse).
    A5.

The Intous 3 was incredibly pricy, even with a discount.

Thanks for all your help guys.

Edit: If I move the pen too slowly when I start to draw a line it goes really thick, like it thinks the mouse is drawing, not the pen?
Is there a way to fix that?

Have you tried messing around with the pen settings?

    Yeah, no dice.
Think it might be the drivers, I dl'd the latest ones from the website rather than the ones on the disc.

Got to the brushes tab in photoshop and adjust the shape settings from pen pressure to none.

I think you've missed the point, I'm using the pen, and unless I move it fast enough on the tablet, the computer thinks I'm using the mouse or something, and doesn't change the line strength with pressure.

If you're a novice on PS I'd just get the Bamboo right now, I used to have it, once you get better, I'd go for the intuos series, I have a Intous 4 right now, and it really does make a big difference from mouse to tablet
