Is anyone here a fan of the old linkin park? (Meteora, Hybrid Theory etc.) It pisses me off to see them doing this rap ----. Sure they screamed in their music, but it was actually good. I hate screamo, but I loved listening to LP. Discuss. Now. NOW!
I agree with you mate, the new Linkin Park is ----. I loved how they did the old songs especially Numb, Crawling, Breaking the Habit, Faint, etc..
Yeah well Live in Texas might not have been great but it wasn't that bad either. They actually became gays when they introduced their new album "Minutes to Midnight", capish?
Not sure since I stopped listening after I heard Live in Texas, then they had their songs with JayZ which ruined every song, imo.
Actually, I'm not late. Their new single just came out... reminds me of them. Live in Texas wasn't bad, but the Jay-Z ones definitely were roadblocks for me. I thought it would be a one time deal though. Turns out they went gay forever.
They've always incorporated "rap" into their music, on a large number of tracks on Meteora etc. Catch up. New album isn't brilliant, but it's not that bad either. I actually like one of the 'rap' songs on the new album, and I hate that kind of thing. They HAD to become at least slightly more mainstream, essentially every single -------mainstream band on the planet does it at some point (though LP have always been mainstream). They want to appeal to a wider audience, and they'll have managed that with the new album, even if it pisses some people off.
3 times for effect? Of course they do, but they won't lose all their old school die-hard fans. They'll lose some surely, but the amount of people they'll gain will far outweigh it, they've developed (and incidently, matured) in terms of sound (not that I like the new album). It's only natural for a band to do it, generally becoming more mainstream in the process. If you look at any...ehm, 'rock' bands that are popular in terms of mainstream culture ; Avenged Sevenfold, Lostprophets, Bullet For My Valentine, Fightstar, Funeral For A Friend. They've all changed in sound over the last few albums, in a few cases it's been relatively dramatic; overall these bands will retain a large number of their original fan base, while drawing in masses more of the mainstream vote. And these new 'fans' will go back and listen to the older albums. Despite what people think, a lot of Linkin Park's old fan's still loved the new album, while accepting that the band -has- to change direction occassionally. They still pack out gigs, and there's no way that's comprised solely of new fans. And in addition to this, people who love the old albums will still go the gigs, as they play old as well as new music, as well as purchasing every future album irregardless in hope of a 'return' to the old style. It happened with Funeral For A Friend actually, countless people were sorely dissapointed with 'Tales', however they all still bought the latest as it was 'back to their roots'. ... That was probaly a bigger response than called for.
Sorry about the triple post, that happened unintentionally and unknowingly.. But I can only say that you've got a strong point there and I have to agree with it. Now I understand why some bands would go ahead with something other rather than staying with the same. Love LP forever and I hope that theory of yours is good enough to convince other LP fans around the globe as well since it's quite reasonable from where I see it.
They have always been a terrible band, fact is they were easier to listen to back then, its just cringe worthy now. Learn not to play power chords and create dynamic rhythms.
