Okay.. I hate networking, to me it's complicated. I got certified by Cisco systems at one point, but that was for like the lowest level of networking possible, only because it was free to me at the time.

I'm computer literate, but network stupid.

    Here is my problem.

My friend just got a huge tv, he also has a PS3, but no internet.

He lives in my complex. My laptop can pick up the signal from my router at his house, but the ps3 cannot.

I've set up ICS to run off a vzw usb access thingy. But that was a while ago and haven't been able to do it.

I want to take my laptop to his house, connect to my internet, connect a Ethernet cable from my computer to his ps3 and obtain internet on the ps3.

I remember having to change the dns, gateways, default routers, and ip address manually on the ps3. But I can't remember why I did so.

I've done some Googling, it's 1:30am right now, so I'm going take a break.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thank you.

Oh, is it possible to use my AD HOC network from my computer as an access point for the ps3?

yeah its possible, you need a spare wireless adaport though (one for receiving one for sending) only time i've done this i've needed to use the zydas bridge. I'll see what I can do about a tutorial later

Well I have the wireless router, my laptop has a wireless card (the adapter) and the ps3 also has a wireless car and built in Ethernet as well.

you can get another router and attach it to your current router. Then you can have his PS3 use the new router and you use your old one. It's not complicated but it's pretty lazy :)

I have a spare linksys some where, but how would this help at all? My friends apartment is far away, thus no signal from ps3. I just assume my laptop's wireless card is better than the ps3 =]
