I can't believe Adobe puts it that high. I got CS3 portable for free. Did anyone here actually pay for Photoshop/Creative Suites?

I'm not a student. And I never said Piracy. I might share a computer with a friend who bought. Therefore, I get it for free, and no piracy

Not really because theres no official product that is a "portable version" only versions that float around the warez scene and usually are loaded with spyware

Regardless of the work, Photoshop is still ridiculously overpriced.

Still, student license so couldn't care less.

Student licenses are great. Much cheaper. Still though, it costs money.

The price reflects the fact it's industry standard software, and that their principle sales are done through volume puchases by businesses. If they put the price at a consumer level, then many businesses buying corporate licenses would buy retail software rather than licensing it from Adobe, meaning they'd probably lose significant re-sales when the companies upgrade.

The thing you have to remember is CS3/4 are not consumer level products. They consumer level products are the Adobe Elements softwares.

Photoshop has always pricey, and piracy is just going to add to economic decline, but i think cs3 extended is $1000 right? but really you pay for quality.
