What are the best fonts, in your opinion, for designing? The reason I ask, is because I recently heard of Segoe.

for designing just go with whatever fits. For papers and write up's, can't beat Frutiger 45

Doubt it. Couldn't find a Graphics Discussion forum. Besides, what forum would be better?

They got rid of Graphics Discussion methinks, wasn't used enough.

Isn't really a "Best Font" since it depends entirely on what you're doing.
Website, Poster, Sig, Random LP, whatever it is.

You should just get a bunch of different font packs, go through them, and make a folder with all your favorites, that's what ive done and it makes finding that perfect font alot easier than going through a full pack of like 10 000+ fonts.

I like Helvetica Neue. Unfortunately, I can't afford to buy the blasted font, so I have to do all that stuff at school. At home, I normally default to Myriad Pro or Adobe Garamond Pro. Garamond Pro is close to Helvetica, which is why I like it. I personally would like to learn to create my own fonts, since I always know exactly what I want, but can't find it.

Pretty much, use any font that works. If it's a decorative font, just make sure not to overuse it. And avoid Comic Sans unless it absolutely fits.

Haha, Sock, you reminded me to fix my "Pro"s

Myriad --- is my all time fave. i go for Helvetica for classic-ness. Cambria is a good standard font. It all depends really, I'm depressed since myria isn't included anymore =[

I don't believe your comical use of Comic Sans quite fits in this instance, my dear Sock.

If you're considering it, then definately man up and buy Helvetica. When you compare the real Linotype version to it's many clones, it'll make you cry with joy.
