I have Vista. When I have the speakers ON and I plug in headphones, the sound stops coming out of the speakers and only plays in my headphones. This is behavior i want. Now when i plug in headphones, the sound keeps coming out of the speakers, and NO sound comes out of the headphones. i looked at Sound Properties and it says my speakers, card, and headphones are all "working properly". Please help
Try to restart your PC when you make such changes. It could also be something to do with your speaker's headphones jack.
+ be sure your speakers are plugged in with a 3.5mm jack (goes into the green input at the back of your PC) + be sure you plug your headphones in your SPEAKERS (also 3.5mm jack) instead of the front headphones input of your PC + if that won't work try downloading the latest audio drivers
I searched for latest drivers, Speakers are plugged in and work properly, headphones are same ones ive always used. this is a settings and Vista problem, boys.
I also have a problem... I have both Vista and XP... I use XP, but when I put Vista on my computer, my sound doesn't work... The card I'm using is the one on the motherboard... which is brand new... I bought it when I bought Vista about 4 months ago... I tried installing it as soon as I got home... It says it's working properly and everything... but nothing! When I use the same one on XP, it still doesn't work tho... so I use an old one that only works on XP...
if you know what to do with it, vista is superior to xp, its just the fact that it ships with a retarded frontend that everyone hates, thats why vista is the lost, and soon to be forgotten child of the windows family. Shame really because its a solid OS.
the plugins on my firefox rarely work. they don't even show up. also 90% of the time Firefox won't start and have to log out then log in for it to open you know what to do with that?
Maybe it is just you. Ever thought of that? I work with computers and sell them for a living, and I never have any problems with Vista. That would be because I know how to handle an OS and don't blame everything on something everyone else does. When someone has a problem and happens to run on Vista -- it is all Vista's fault and they will keep saying how much Vista sucks. But when someone has a problem and runs on XP -- I never hear how much XP as an OS sucks. Never. If you have a problem, don't whine about it as most of the time it is because you have done something wrong to make the problem come up. And sure, Vista screws up sometimes, no doubt about that. But definitely not more than XP. Take your problem for example: by default Vista settings plugging in your headphones will mean all sound go through the headphones and not through your speakers. You said it were your settings. This means YOU messed with your settings and because YOU don't have basic knowledge of Vista YOU created a problem. NOT Vista. Instead of you crying it should be Vista on your PC for having you to control it tbh. :)
