Your probably right about that. That just leaves some non-utilized hardware in the computer though, but it does go into the sticker price, those greedy ------s.
Well, TBH, I've never considered 4gig of RAM to be enough of a reason to warrant switching from 32bit to 64bit (I use 64bit, but that's purely because it gives a performance boost across the boards since it's now so widely supported). Even though 32bit OS' won't allow you to flag all 4gig of RAM for application use, windows will quite happily use more than the normal ~3.5gig of RAM it'll address. Since Vista likes to use a lil' bit more RAM itself than XP would (mainly because it has its own memory management system for apps now), when push comes to shove and you need to max out your RAM, 32bit will generally still allow you to do so. When I upgrade later this year I'm going 100% Apple, so it's less of a concern, however were I to upgrade a Windows PC, I'd be looking at 6gig - 12gig for an i7, or 8gig for a Core2. This situation is where I would recommend 64bit.
