Offtopic: Well as far as I know the features from photoshop didnt expand that much since 7.0 (but what do i know...i started at cs2)

Ontopic: Youre gettin the right idea but youre not there yet.

First what is important when working with renders (so that ll be 95% of the time) ..Try to blend in your render because you dont want to make it look like its just there..it has to be part of the whole thing.

Second..Try to create a vocal point in the sig (or large art).. In your sigs my eyes are lookin around all over the thing and nothing catches my eye...

There's a lot to learn but when you follow some tuts youll get better in no time and elements like focal point, lightning, colouring, depth and composition will be explained to you....

Hope I helped you out a bit ^_^

i wouldn't add text for now, don't duplicate your render and use it where you can see it, read up on some smudge tutorials, and just beginner tutorials too, you'll soon get there
