you guys are so ------ing ignorant and close-minded, euro football and american basketball are completely different in terms of almost everything. I respect both sports and all the athletes for each, you can't argue which is better, because it's all based on opinions.
That reason being is all you need is a ball...it can be played on any terrain. You can mark goals with lines in the dirt...thus why it is played world wide. Plus it's easier to pick up...not saying in the pros it's easy...or even in competition but for some poor kids in Africa, they can just kick a ball around, no biggie. <3u. I love you. Really, I do. Get out.

Soccer does not mean more conditioning. It's a different type of running. They run for a little while, but when the ball is away from them, unless they are trying to get a pass, they walk or stand still. Basketball players constantly run, never stop, defense, offense, off the ball offense. They run about the same amount, if anything the average basketball player probably runs more then the average soccer player. (because of the defensive players and goalie)
Go away, the fact that you can have an opinion, means you can argue it. You're calling us ignorant, psh.
Depends on the game, i have games where i almost constantly have to run because the attackers cant keep the ball and it bounces back to midfield/defence which have too build up again for an attack.
Stupidest post of the thread? I won't elaborate why, if you're smart enough you'll realize that you're missing soooo many factors in both games. I don't remember every point I wanted to reply too and I don't feel like making this an essay because I have to leave soon but, you said soccer players don't have hand eye coordination besides the goalie. Since when did hand eye coordination become the deciding factor in which is the better sport. You might not need hand eye coordination but you sure as hell need to know how to use your legs properly. You have no idea the amount of control it takes to play soccer. It's not as easy as it looks. As for Neu's comment about basketball not being tactical, it is. You can't just expect the opposing player to let you waltz up their part of the court and dunk it or shoot it. You have to know what you're going to do to take that ball up the court. You can't compare two completely different sports. As well as the fact that you can't take videos of players from each sport and expect that to be evidence. Each athlete of each sport obviously plays well otherwise they would not be paid to do it.
I'd say its easier to learn how to throw a ball at a target than it is to kick a ball at a target.. And the reason it is popular worldwide isn't solely because all you need is a ball- its just much more fun to play imo, which is proved by its popularity.. Its considered a worldwide sport while basketball is considered popular only really in America (obviously people from all over the world play it though but nowhere near on the scale as football is played).. This whole thread is full of lols tbh tho.. Its like American's trying to argue that their sport is more popular when statistically it is obvious which one is more popular worldwide. Tbh, really, who gives a toss, people here ranting isn't going to make me think "Oh ----, I've spend the last 70% of my life watching the wrong sport.." Each to their own. Everyone seems too stubborn to admit that these days..
