Except that Macs are pretty much inferior in nearly each way to an advanced user.

The only people drawn to them nowadays are fashion whores and people who are inexperienced with computers. Their digital capabilities aren't even much superior to windows, which was supposed to be their specialty.

Already went on a long tangent with a mac lover here at work who used to *work* for apple and he even admitted what I said above was true. The only reason why he doesn't switch to Windows is because he isn't familiar with the operating system like he is with mac.

oh great another mac vs pc thread, they're both good for what you want to use them for and both inferior in their own ways

Knew that would be your response, I use windows, and occasionally Linux, but not so much these days.
    Also what Lbot said.

I've heard that there is an increased usage of mac OSX by certain groups of scientists.
OSX is based off of BSD and as such it's able to use A LOT of really old programs from the 70s and 80s that no regular person in their right mind has any use for.

on top of that it can run photoshop and a variety of other applications as well.

now I don't see why they couldn't run some light linux distro in a VM and continue to use windows like any CS major would but ehh maybe that's just me...
