The first one is cool, like something you would see on a calender I think and the last one is awesome. What exactly was it that you photographed?

All are great pictures. The first is framed, exposed and composed to perfection, though a bit cliche. The second is a great photo, and the cropping is well done as well. However, the post in the middle is VERY distracting. It more than implies at symmetry that is not there. The third is unique, interesting and creative, and the title is perfect for it. Every time I look at it it reminds me of Lost ( The Dharma Initiative logos). I would love to see more of you work, and you should certainly try out for Camera Drawn.

Actually, in my opinion, first one is a bit overexposed. The water/sky needs a lot more detail, but on the other hand, the right side of the photograph is done very well.
Second is alright, but nothing crazy interesting.
Third one looks pretty cool, inside of a lamp? The composition is nice, but the aperture should have been pumped up a bit more to show detail in everything.

I'd like to see more from you.

Hey guys, thanks for the great feedback, you can see more of my stuff at http://khodium.deviantart.com/ :)

The first one i wanted the sky and water to act as negative space to emphasize the lonliness so the lack of detail was intended and if it was pumped up then the right wouldve been underexposed too.
For the second one couldnt really do much about the pole but it is in the centre because the composition didnt really work any other way.
And yea the third one is a lampshade. It could've use some more details but I thought id do something quite minimal.

Well, if that was your idea for the first, then it was well pulled off. :P

Reminding me of tilt-shift lenses (someone should buy me one for my birthday!) or Lensbaby's.

With Alone, I get more the sense that he's leaving one life behind and being reunited with lost family, since he's walking towards that family waaaay far away. He looks very relaxed, and the large amount of white gives me more of a positive feeling. The bird flying in the same direction he's walking also leads me to that conclusion over the lonely one. Pretty much the entire photo points to that family (waves, beach, bird, subject, horizon)

The second one... I like the X, just throw some TNT in that hill and all compositional problems are solved! Really like the quality of light and color, and the big X gives me the feeling that the town is trying to assert that it exists (you know, "x" on a map). Another thing I noticed is that you have lovely blues both on bottom, and on top. Your photo is divided into thirds horizontally, and it looks very nice :D

The last one I really dig. I wish that the highlights on the shiny metal were a bit brighter, but think that the exposure is perfect the way it is. Any brighter, and you lose the triangular shape that the bulb makes. I love the shapes and patterns in it too. Perfectly symmetrical, and it all leads the eye around nicely :D

Thanks for the comments socsaint, you have a great way to describe things.
For the alone one, I felt its alone more in the sense of peace and time to oneself. He is just watching the waves and enjoying the cool ocean breeze and contemplating life rather than lonely because no one is there for him. But art is open to interpretation and that is the beauty of it.
And about tilt shift lens, i think they are prohibitivly expensive for their limited uses. I'd rather edit in the blur and save for a rainy day :)
