I knows, just trying to get back into doing sigs again, plan to make another one tonight after work. PvP gear is harder to get, which is exactly why PvE gear shouldn't be comparable =P. The way they have it setup with badges works fine by me though, you raid 1 bracket above the pvp gear available to you for badges, seems far to me, now if only they would make PvE gear available with PvP... then I would be set, never have to roll on set pieces again.
PvP gear really isn't harder to get though, longer yes, but definately not harder lol. 2 hours of arenas a week depending on queue times + how fast you win/lose. Then you can just farm Naxx to get the badges for your blue pieces haha. I doubt I'll even be bothering trying to get my PvP set till next season, working on decking myself in PvE ---- first..then spend my off badges on the blue PvP set.. (Although it does depend on how long the season goes) -- Also need that dual-spec ---- to come in already, Need feral so I can farm Onyxia! >< haha.
The main difference was that in Pre BC WoW PvP was not a major part of the game unless you wanted to go hardcore battlegrounds - the only way to get good (epic) PvP gear was to spend 2 months doing BG's ~9 hours a day for Grand Marshal/High Warlord. PvE was the main focus of the game, as it should have been - I for one didn't start playing WoW because of the fascinating PvP system (which I should add wasn't even implemented until a couple of months after release).
I don't mind watching some of the PvP vids (Specially the pre-bc ones, they were much more interesting to watch), or watching the arena tournaments. I'm in it for the PvP, no better feeling than smashing down a group of 4 people on your own then busting out some /spit lol. However I just don't like the fact that you can get PvP pieces from doing PvE (VoA // Badges). They should split them apart more.
I would agree with that. I'm not saying PvP isn't fun - I loved arenas at 70, especially in Season 3 when the goods were separated from the bads with rating requirements. I would also agree that PvP gear from stuff like Archavon is bad. There needs to be a separation between PvE and PvP - they're two very different game types.
I unno, I don't find raiding difficult at all. I have never been fond of person vs AI stuff when it came to difficulty, AI is programmed, you expect specific responses from specific actions, which makes the account easy imo. Sure, there are 25 people, but that doesn't make the raid anymore difficult for me as a tank or dps, it makes their jobs more important, and the raid may be a little more stressful, but certainly not difficult on a personal level. I definitely feel PvP is more personally challenging than raiding is.
Raiding used to be challenging - you remember pre 3.0 M'uru, right? Although there were expected reactions from specific actions, there was still the feeling of the unexpected - somebody could screw up, RNG could screw you over, etc. The fights were still intense and it felt good to finish it up. However, the PvE/PvP debate is all personal opinion. That's the way I feel about PvE, you could be different. PvP isn't more challenging than PvE - You can roll a faceroll class (DK, no offense to you) or a faceroll team comp (DK/Ret?) and roll over less viable comps and specs simply because your comp, spec or class has the advantage. How is that skill? Sure, things change when you get to 2200+, however those are still very much scripted strats. CC healer, blow up partner, switch DPS to healer, something goes wrong, reset match with drink, etc. Long story short, it's all personal preference, but PvE definitely takes as much "skill" as PvP.
In the same breath your PvE groups can be stacked with 9 resto shaman (pre nerf muru anyone?) or 15 ranged dps with 8 heals and 2 tanks for non-melee friendly fights (think stupid stuff like gruul as an example). Composition is a variable in both PvE and PvP, it is one of the reasons so many guilds in TBC, mostly in sunwell, had 9-10 raid spots of each class, so they could stack their raids. RNG is just as likely in PvP, if not more likely because you could (for instance) get triple crits on scourge strikes from a DK, which could be well over 15k life in 4.5s not including melee hits or rune strikes which could hit or disease damage or unholy blight damage, or your partners damage. Every class has a place in PvP, as does each spec. It is particularly evident by the warlocks who got gladiator in S4 as full time destro (easily one of the hardest achievements possible). Regardless of PvE or PvP, each class brings something to give you an advantage, a properly stacked raid group provides full buffs for melee and casters (like EP/CoE, Bloodlust, etc.). Different comps come with different strats in both PvE and PvP. I unno, I have never felt stressed with my personal performance in PvE, but I certainly did in PvP.
This is where personal preference comes in - some of us enjoy contributing to our guild and want to give 100% all of the time to PvE, others not so much
I agree, however as a personal preferance I got more of a joy/thrill from finally clearing an instance that we had spent 1000's of gold and countless hours lerning with my guild, than winning a WSG. (You don't hear 35 people going 'wewp' on vent from PVP lol) I still love world PvP more than BGs/Arena.
This is where personal preference comes in - some of us enjoy contributing to our guild and want to give 100% all of the time to PvE, others not so much [/b][/quote] Obviously I contribute to my guild 100%, I have the US record for DK dps and the world record for test dummy dps on a dk, I still don't feel stressed on PvE performance where I do on PvP performance. Oh, and when I say PvP, I don't mean battlegrounds, I mean arena, the thing that matters.
We managed server 2nd on Sarth+3D last night, though I missed the run. That gave us server first guild to clear 10 and 25 man content, not that it really matters though. Also heard that our server first guild is losing their title/achievement/mount due to an exploit. Apprently they got the drakes down to 5%, the priest with the reflective shield started catching flame breaths after enrage...dead dragons are dead. Not sure, I havent spoke to any of them, they're ally side, so it just maybe a rumor on horde side.
He plays on one of the low pop noname servers. Its like in the last 15 servers in the US or something like that.
Omfg dont get me started on the Grand Black War Mammoth. Was VoA 10, crappy PuG, mammoth drops. We all roll, I win. Master Looter then 'accidentally gives it to the wrong person'. He says make a ticket and I'll give you the mount blah blah. So I make the ticket, and he just says nothing and doesnt reply, refuses to say anything whatsoever. Basically, I manage to track him down in CoT, and spend 10 minutes running after him on the mount swearing at him, and he still says nothing. So yeah, I got ass ------ed there.
