I've heard so much about this customization for the Skins for Windows but wanted to know what it exactly is... I found some nifty looking skins on DeviantArt but didn't know how to install them and stuff... Anyone care to explain what this Software does, where can I download it and if it is compatible with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition Thanks Prince.
What? If you mean by the work that I'm writing and doing atm then yes I do...anyways why would you care ??
It's replaces the windows shell. Basically it's like a new theme. As far as I know it works fine in 32-bit Vista, not sure about 64. There are a few bugs though.
Unless you have a decent knowledge of theming, installing packages and a good general knowledge of how LiteStep works, you'll probably find yourself in over your head pretty quickly.
Well I know how themes work. I have made myself a custom theme using Stardock's suites and other things that I found on DA and google search. But what I can't find is some good explanation of what Litestep does, where can I download it? (since Litestep's official site has so many downloads but don't know which one to download and their documentation is kind of awkward), and if someone can explain how it works. Mostly because i'm tired of using the old ass theme...so yeah Any help will be appreciated.. Prince.
Well, think of it this way. explorer.exe is the default GUI shell. Everything from windows, to start bar, to icon management, etc. LiteStep is a replacement shell. explorer is a very limiting shell, as far as customization goes, whereas LiteStep was designed to be completely customizable. That's essentially what it does.
I tried Litestep about three years ago, I didn't like it all that much. What you can do is get Vista Glazz to patch your uxtheme.dll and then you can download custom Vista themes from wincustomize, deviantArt, etc.
