i hate how realism has become 1 render + 1 real life stock bg positioned to look good with a few adjustments

colored version is alot better but the render + bg dont go tbh

yea render doesnt fit the bg properly but as dor the daceu i would think put it vertically the same sort of styling on the red steel on the bg, just smaller

I think the render works fine with the stock, makes it look like a still from a film or something, looks pretty sick to me. I dont really like the Left 4 Dead text though, but the lighting is amazing, so good work I like it.

does anyone have a link to a decent realism tutorial?

Deacu you've got a talent for the realism but let's face it, old grizzled Bill outside a safe house at dawn? So not realistic lol. My husband and I play Left 4 Dead all the time (Xbox gamer tag: swggeekgirl) and I've found one solid truth, there's no such thing as daylight in L4D...The background sort of looks like the trainyard that's the prelude to the old creepy house in the middle of the forest, and as Francis so delicately puts "his hate for train-yards, creepy old houses" that you've lost the feel for the game...

I mean really? I hate dawn...not to mention realism should never ever go into sci-fi. Though I will say I love your Bill cut, it's a great render without a doubt. I won't get too much into the text part, who ever likes text in a sig? lol...Just saying this small smidge though, your text doesn't fit this picture at all, but you already know that.

Text is real sloppy, so I'd recommend fixing that first. Also I'd crop 5 - 10 pixels off the bottom of the sig to improve composition, and I'd take your name off the handguard of the M16. When properly blended and executed, carefully slipping your text into a realism piece can be really effective, however the way you've got it now looks a bit amatuerish.

Nice job blending the render, though, and you've got some good, solid lighting. A little more colour and some brightness/contrast work and it'll be a real nice tag. XD

Thanks for all the great comments everyone :) I'll do what work I can still... I didn't think it was looking so great and I basically changed the entire style of the tag... but I'll try cropping the bottom off it and working the contrast/brightness a bit. I know... the text sucks xD

And yeah, I went for dusk because as I was getting designers-block while trying to make it a night scene =_= I tried to darken the sky and make the light coming from some fire in the background but in the end it just wasn't workin' for me =_= I tried to have some zombies in front of a fire in the distance with long shadows coming down the tracks too... turned out worse than I had hoped :/

Maybe you can try covering bill in boomer bile?
And have a bunch of zombies coming at him in the background (since boomer bile attracts zombies)
And then the render will automatically fit because hes like "Wtf is this green ----? " :P
Oh, Making it night would help a lot too I think... And I also think having some Fire in there would be great too..

It IS the zombie apocalypse after all. :P

Just brainstorming in the open for you xD
