    It's pretty easy actually.
    1. you take the pen tool.
    2. Check the options up top and make sure it's set to paths.
This will create the paths and all but to make it colour, select the brush tool
    3. select the brush tool.
    4. load a hard rounded brush (thickness is up to you)
    5. Set your foreground colour to the desired colour.
    6. Head back to the pen tool and use it to create the desired line.
      Creating the line
      • Click to add one anchor point
      • Click somewhere else for another anchor point but this time, hold the mousebutton and drag it, this will give you a curve.
(that's it's basically so just expirement a bit now ;))
    7. We have our paths now, right click the path (keeping the pen tool selected) and select 'stroke path'.
    8. Choose the brush tool (this will then colour the path with the brush tool we defined earlier on.
    9. If you want to have that effect where the center is thicker and the ends go in a typ, tick off the 'simulate pressure' option.

    Hope this helps ;)

Weird. The simulate pressure option is just what does that effect of making the line thicker in the center and thinner near the ends...

Stimulate Pressure works with Stoke Path as a 'Pencil', it fades it off to both ends. Very helpful and cool looking if u stroke like a 2px and add a small glow.

As FergZ rather ambiguously implied, you have to have your brush set to more than 1px width. Not sure if this is the problem or not, but you should remember that the boldest parts of the line will be the width you set for the brush tool.

Euhm, check this tutorial of mine.
Somewhere halfway it has the same explanation as I posted here before, but perhaps it's more clear when you see it presented in an actual tutorial :)

I think I figured out the problem.

Go to your brushes window and make sure that "Shape Dynamics" is checked, and that size jitter is set to pen pressure.

I made a lovely demonstration graphic for you that you should treasure for all time:

All four of those had stimulate pressure selected :)

SP, you shouldn't use spaces in your file names. Underscores are the new space. :P
