So you're telling me that there's a bunch of people that pull this Pineapple Express life, smoking recreationally and then going to work in suits and ties?

Jenks, Bacon, and Justin are some smart motherf*ckers. Lack of money (Justin and Jenks) and being an emancipated minor (Jenks) aside, they had plans. Hell, Bacon had every means to go to college and do something with his life; his parents are rich enough to afford a $50,000 bond for somebody that isn't even in their family. He did the whole AP deal, wanted to be an English teacher. The dude chose living on his own instead, and that's gotten him nowhere except high and drunk.

All of the others could have gone somewhere as well, or at very least graduated. Most of them were young and dumb; weed didn't exactly help them. And yes, it did turn them into cocoons, if you want to call it that. Of all of those people I mentioned, only one did not live at Sycamore at one point or another (the house has two small bedrooms, a decent-sized living room, and a tiny kitchen). They spent their days on couches scraping for resin or, occasionally, pooling their money for a blunt. Jenks and Bacon had $2500 worth of back-rent and damages to pay when they got kicked out. On a house that cost $700/month. They lived there from July to December. Some of the kids had no self-control, but you can't tell me that I just happened to find every loser in my town and that most smokers aren't like that.

I mean look at you guys. Most of you are kids, using the whole "weed isn't addictive, alcohol is worse for you, weed enhances the mind" deal that you pass around among yourselves. Meanwhile, you're telling me that my friends have no self-control while going on an all-day weed binge just because it's 4-20; your best advice is to smoke a bowl and relax. I mean seriously, are you f*cking stupid?

Do I smoke? No. When I get out of nursing school, I will have somebody's life in my hands every day I go to work. It's not something that's tolerated; do you want the guy pulling glass out of your head in the ER to be high? Even before I chose to go to nursing school, I never wanted to. I could have easily hidden it from my parents; I hid getting drunk and smoking cigarettes from them until I was seventeen -- I had every opportunity. Why didn't I? Sitting around in a circle thinking Shark Week was interesting never appealed to me; stoners are not very funny or even interesting when they're high, contrary to what stoners believe. So I stayed sober (or, occasionally, drunk).

    ferret, are you serious?

did it ever cross your mind that your friends might have been "cocoons" before starting to smoke weed, and would have acted like idiots even if they had chosen to never smoke in their lifes?

also, noone cares if you smoke or not, just don't go around saying that anyone that anyone that smokes is an idiot and will turn magically into a loser.
I don't mean to offend, but the fact that your friends were losers didn't depend on weed.
they knew that if they had 1000$ and their rent was 700$, they wouldn't be able to pay for it
they went and gave their money to a dealer (and don't even mention addiction, there is no more addiction to weed than to chocolate)

Technically chocolate can become an addiction, chocolate releases chemicals into your system, which is why it particularly suits women. You can form a chemical addiction from it with enough consumption, much in the same way as having an orgasm. Also, as I have said before, while weed isn't a chemical addiction. its a habitual addiction. If your mind *believes* it needs weed to work adequately, its just as powerful on your body as a chemical addiction, just much easier to overcome with the correct counseling and guidance.

you claim weed is addictive and life ruining while at the same time drinking and smoking tobacco?

    Hmm, good stance there.

Here's my take; people think of weed as this harmful substance typically because it is illegal to the general population of North America. Have you ever thought of why it is illegal, besides the obvious reason of it's harmful (which makes no sense)? Think of it this way, can you grow tobacco in a place such as Washington in the middle of December? No because it needs a constant hot environment. While you can grow marijuana in this winter climate in a house with a few black lights and room temperature basically. The huge key to this is, the government can control tobacco. Marijuana can be grown so freely that it would be nearly impossible for the government to make any general profit from it if it were to be legalized. So for anyone who thinks how harmful it is such as Ferret, think of it this way: I would be just as comfortable with a nurse who got drunk the night before as a nurse who got high the night before.

marijuana wasn't originally made illegal because it was harmful.

Actually, you're right, give 'em a believable excuse and 100 bucks and you're set.

UPDATE: I decided to try salvia the other day, never tried it before. And I must say that it was one of the must retarded things I have done. I did 80x and I just laughed for about 5 minutes and felt like I couldn't talk. Waste of money.

Yea, makes no sense. It only destroys short-term brain cells. Who needs those, right?

marijuana is actually believed to stimulate brain cell growth. The "weed kills brain cells" stuff was propaganda based on a badly carried out scientific study which was later proved false.
