I am kind of displeased with the recent stock pack. Only a few of us contributed. What is the point of us having completely inactive members? I don't know..... I just wanted to say I don't think we all put as much effort as we should have into it. The artfoam pack is an amazing piece of work with all the artists putting some of their best stuff into it. Ours is mostly a compiling of leftovers. I speak of myself too, while a few of those pictures I actually planned to put in the stock pack, I never intended to put that many originally so I had to add a few I wasn't too impressed with. I think a bit more planning and time should be put into our next one and we should started accepting entries ATLEAST a month beforehand. Rant rant rant.
The leftovers part is kinda true... I think that part is kinda we dont want to see our favorites possibly used by some1 else etc.. But yeh.. Lately its kinda sad to see that only 4 of us entered.. Next time maybe for our pack we could try different themes.. like seasonal? sports? technology? As I think that was kind of one of the downfalls is we all didnt know what to put in.. I put in some more of mine after i realized how small our pack was o.o I can understand that we all get a little bit busy with school\work, But taking 1-10 mins of your day cant be too tough to just come here post check others stuff.. etc. We are a lil bit different then other crews as we have to go outside and work on stuff and we cant post our work as much. so ye thats just my rant with yuh.. =o
I was thinking us all having different themes as well. That we could possibly rotate every semester or something, which would allow us all to improve on different areas of photography. I for example have hardly done any close up or background work. My latest photo comp entry for example, took me a long time to get correct. I think I need to set my white balance or something because I cannot seem to get a perfect white background despite the amount of light I have, the speed or iso or lens hood. Whatever I do I either get an off-white background with perfect exposure, or an over-exposed super white background. My camera allows me to assign certain colors in a spectrum to each type of white balance setting like incandescent and flourescent, so I am going to try that next. As I haven't touched my camera much lately I am quite off as well. Anyways I think I will make a more official topic for our next pack tomorrow. I also agree with you, I didn't want to give any of my best pictures away, but I think we are under obligation to at least provide some sort of quality work.
Yea, I'll be one to admit that most of what I included wasn't anything to write home about. I just haven't had time to go out and take pictures so my collection is really lacking. Combine that with when I do take a really good picture then I want to hold onto it and that means even less quality. But yea for the next pack we should all make a concerted effort to put forth better quality. And for the ppl that didn't contribute anything, either they need to shape up and be more active or they shouldn't be in the crew. That's not meant to be harsh but I think it's the truth. Granted it's not fun to have a crew of just a 4 or 5 people but when they are the only ones being active, it might be worth looking elsewhere for people that will be active.
thats what happens when u do thigns in the last momment eh? rush things up.. why not start gathering the pictures, to who ever will rar the pack when the time is due? i mean if thigns are doen in rush-hour.. it will keep on being the same
Eccentric has a good idea about people rotating different themes but I also think that it might be hard for some of us to get access to certain things. So while it would be good practice for each of us to do different things on a constant basis, I think it might be more feasible if we come up with themes ahead of time and then determine how many pictures we want for each theme. We can leave it up to ourselves to go out and try and get pictures of the things that we don't take most often but in the end, as long as the crew as a whole comes up with the set number of high quality photos for each category, we'll be much happier with the pack as a whole. Dunno if that makes sense but when I ran it through my mind I thought it did EDIT: And if we have an excess of photos, we can decide as a group which ones we think are the best and should be included. Of course this is only if we have a lot of photos for a particular category.
i like your idea illuminati sounds great tbh.. like we want 5 macro's 9 landscapes.. 10 still life etc.. =] where was this thinking when we needed it lol. also I think even if no1 can go out and take pic's just keeping our forum active will be a bit nice.. like for instance just talking about random things or weather or whats going on so we can get a idea of and maybe give each other something to think about to give you a idea of something to try n take a pic of i dunno ;p sounded gud when i thought of it lol.
I'll admit: I didn't really shoot with plans for the pack, but that's mostly because I had some bonafied stocks from last term. Still, I like the idea of having some sort of quota. It'll make sure that the pack is well-rounded and has something for everyone. I might try to include some of people as well (myself being the person so that I don't have to deal with a model release). We shall see. Anyways, yeah, let's try and get started earlier. I got the topic and planning started for the last one rather early, but I think it just got eaten and forgotten. Now that we have an idea of what we're doing, it'll probably be a little easier to do a second time... We need to figure out how we're organizing it early on though. When we zip it, let's try to have them categorized as well. And the file names titled according to the member who submitted them.

No, what you did was fine . I just think that if we organized according to name, it would make it easier to contact us if there was a question. Even though we put it as a stock pack, each individual member still holds rights, and I think that would emphasize that. We were also pretty clueless on what exactly we wanted
