In my Personal Opinion Abstract has nothing to do with Cinema 4D or C4D effects or renders. It can be almost anything. Abstract just needs to have a form a small sense to it..

Mostly and almost 99% of the time it depends on the Viewer's Eye and what he / she thinks what Abstract should be. In my opinion a Simple Manipulations should not be considered as Abstract. Nope ..

Just my 2 Dark Cents on this matter..

The program doesn't decide whether or not it's abstract, anyone who thinks so is being a bit dense imho. Just because you are unhappy that C4D is whored nowadays doesn't mean you should start unnecessary arguments. Neuron, what I see, time and time again, is that you alone have different views on the theme, and I cannot change everything just for you, and if you think that I can then you are being selfish and egotistical. This is a competition for all the competitors, all the members. You should relax once in a while and let people have their fun.

I don't know why MerDeNoms' sig started this discussion when he's willing to obey by what the gfx crew thinks "abstract" is. That's all that matters since the judges are the gfxcrew. Always has been I think.

I kinda agree with Prince on this one :\

btw, MerDeNoms' tag, abstract or not, it's amazing =)

I see my entry as abstract, but all this debating on what's abstract or not won't really go anywhere, so I changed my entry. Good luck to all the participants :)

You shouldn't change your entry because some people are crying about it.

I view abstract as anything containing little or not recognizable forms from the physical world. Abstracts focus a bit more on the elements of design above all else.
In a way, I guess MerDeNoms isn't really considered a true abstract, but an abstract representation of what happens to be a seahorse.

I don't think he needed to change his entry to be honest. :l

To settle this once and for all...

    abstract art

A trend in painting and sculpture in the twentieth century. Abstract art seeks to break away from traditional representation of physical objects. It explores the relationships of forms and colors, whereas more traditional art represents the world in recognizable images.

Directly from THE DICTIONARY. So no debating, no complaining, no nothing. It is what it is and thats how its going to be.

Sorry, but this about traditional mediums. None of that even applies here since this site is about digital art.

All abstract pieces, and holy ---- guess what? They're PHOTOMANIPS. It's like none of you can grasp the fact that photomanipulation can go hand in hand with any genre of digital art, ESPECIALLY abstract art.

Neuron has made a valid point. Those LPs are definitely abstract. Just because we can see a human form in them, doesn't take away the abstract quality it has to it.
