Ehhmm, okay. Lemme start by saying: it's not bad. It's just not good either. And really, I don't wanna be a hater but here's what's not good:

    1. The render. It's either low quality or you didn't transform it right. When transforming a render, make sure you hold 'Shift'; That way it won't get a weird perspective.
    2. There's no lighting. Or if there is, I don't see it. Anyways, that has to be better. Easiest way to do that is to take out your brush, choose a soft 200 pixel brush and just click once on the place you want your light source to be.
    3. The effects. I can't really tell what you should do, but they're no good.
    4. Your text. The font's not good. What usually looks best to me is a simple font, like Times New Roman or Arial, and 'write' your name in one of the colors that are in your tag.
    5. The border. I can see that there's a 3(?) pixel border around your tag, but you also have another border, don't quite know what that is but it doesn't look good.
    6. Last but not least, you have to create some depth. It's pretty flat right now. Easiest way is using the sharpen and blur tools.

Once again, I'm not trying to take you down, it's all just feedback. Good luck on your next one!

    for a first go at a sig/tag
i think you are doing fine,

as with most things it just takes practise,
dont try and bite of more than you can chew,
    try tuts, get some practise,

and they will only get easier :)

Agree with MegaD, you understand we aren't harsh just to be A**holes. Its all to help you improve ( i know when i got harsh comments back on mine for my first tags i loved i thought they were awesome i hated the guys who said them, but looking back at them after a few tuts and alot of practice i would have given myself the same comments)

Its good for a First attempt and only knowing the basics. Things can only go up
