I actually prefer scientific sites or articles published by medical facilities to wikipedia, I believe in wikipedia's usefulness, but the information on there can't really be considered always 100% accurate.

However, everything you said about mental addiction is right (even if I think most drug's dependancies are of the chemical kind), it's just that to develop that kind of addiction you'd have to be a person paticularly predisposed to that. It's not very likely to happen to most people (or atleast, the chances are very low), unless encouraged with the prolonged abuse of various other substances.

I already knew I was right, I went to school to study psychology, I just couldn't be arsed to find medical documentation online to provide proof. Wikipedia is generally accurate and an easy reference guide, and likely has links to actual scientific studies in the footnotes anyways.

You would be surprised how some people are not easily addicted to most things but can get addicted to a feel good high in just a couple of uses. Few things can create the euphoria associated with drugs. People who are clinicly depressed for instance with no history of addiction are at a very high risk of becoming addicted to drugs on their first try. It all boils down to chemical makeup of the drug and psychology of the person. Most people don't do drugs, and those people inclined to actually try drugs usually are in a psychological position which makes them prone to addiction.

People who are strong enough to battle addiction on their own aren't generally stupid enough to try them in the first place.

you have a pretty low opinion of... well, of pretty much most of your country (if you're from the US), since it is statistically believed that 87% of the american population has tried drugs.
the number doesn't include only teen agers, but also older people that have tried drugs when younger.
If you compare that to the percentage of people that remained addicted, it doesn't seem so high anymore

I already said I hate people.

If it isn't obvious by my posts here on GR I don't know how I can get the message across. I have lost faith in humanity.

    1. I don't believe it's such a high cause of death, but drowning because of ecstasy is rare.
    2. I'm sorry, but you're VERY mistaken. You can't just buy things to make ecstasy. You probably couldn't even get a hold of some of the materials needed to make ecstasy, and you have to know a lot about chemistry to even begin making the chemical. Ecstasy is a very hard drug to create, and it's not something someone makes at home.
    3. Can't argue about people doing salvia to be "cool" but it's a VERY potent hallucinogen. It's not some "-----" drug that doesn't do jack ----. It's a potent drug that can change your entire perception on reality. Also, it's not that dangerous... like pot isn't dangerous. You're in for a big wake-up call if you're a non-user and you think Salvia is tight because it's illegal.
    4. A trip can have long-lasting effects, yes, but LSD is not an addicting substance despite what you may have seen. It also has many benefits, and can be an therapeutic agent.
    5. Shrooms may not be very hallucinogenic, but there's more to psychedelics than seeing ----. There's the euphoria, analgesia and a sense of open-mindedness about the world. One can gain so much knowledge about themselves after doing shrooms. Also they're not toxic (the psychedelic ones)
    6. Codeine? Where'd you get that? DXM is really retarded and it's for stupid middle schoolers, but it's not hallucinations from dreaming - it's a dissociative... It's also retarded
    7. ...
    8. ...
    9. "You realize that every illegal substance you are putting into your body is a poison?" What????
    10. Speed is another name for amphetamines.... caffeine isn't going to give you anything an amphetamine will.

Funnily enough, I think I can live with that. I wrote a big post @ Dem, but decided I'd let him troll in peace.

I didn't take E this week, and it was good.

Also, we all know Jenkem is the only ---- to do.

1 - This being why there on average 5-10 reports of deaths while trancing on Ecstasy monthly in Denver alone. Once the drug was popularized over 15 people overdosed and flooded their system in a single night. Look up the statistics and stop trying to prove to yourself drugs aren't dangerous.
2 - No, YOU are mistaken. There are certain required components to make any drug function, you will almost *never* receive pure drugs unless you yourself make it. On that subject if you use pure drugs... you are basically injecting rat poison into your system. All drugs are made at 'home'. You think Mr Hardcore dealer of yours has connections with some major drug smugglers bringing it in from an actual manufactoring warehouse? Have you even seen the inside of nearly any building where drugs are made? You're statement is ignorant, if you believe drugs are created in pharmacies and nothing bad is ever mixed in than... god help you because I know logic can't.
4 - Read the above. Drugs requrie specific components to make them work, that doesn't mean this is the ONLY thing being put into them. Acids can indeed cause chemical addictions if consumed enough.
5 - No shit, and shrooms are notoriously known for being one of the weakest in the drug tree, as the other drug head above said, and as I said. Sure, there is the possibility you get a batch of shrooms so intense that you feel like you can time travel and see sound waves coming out of speakers... the likelihood of anyone on this site ever encountering them is nearly 0.
6 - DXM works because of the chemical coedine, look into it. Coedine is a pharacudical drug history best known for being placed in cough syrups. It relaxes your body and makes your brain release chemicals which make you drowsy (a side effect of your entire body relaxing, in particular the areas it came in direct content with).
9 - You are completely ignorant if you disagree with that. Most legal substances are considered 'poisons'. You know how you can tell? You piss and poop, it's your bodies natural reaction to releasing extra nutrients and toxins from your body. Much in the same way sweat isn't only for cooling the body but pushing toxins through pores.
10 - Most people take speed because it acts as something to keep them awake, give them energy, in some cases keep them focused, the legal version of this is caffeine. If you are going to get invested in amphetamines you generally ingest something different. I would personally know, this is the drug of choice in my childhood, throughout a good portion of southern california. It is used as a weight loss, stimulant, and focusing tool by most druggies. This is also the main drug of choice in my moms house, so naturally I took an additional interest in learning about the drug when I figured out what she was doing and I knew I would be living with her again.

Now, shes basically clean with the exception she smokes pot every once in a while to help her relax. Due to her past drug nature she doesn't comprehend things like simple logic and is required to process things overnight or longer and things tend to get rolling on her and she has no way to release her stress so she uses marijuana to calm her nerves and try to keep herself more focused. Not on a monthly thing, but every 3-4 months. As an example she couldn't grasp the concept of a budget based on the money she was currently spending. If you are too braindead to understand what that means, it meant she didn't know why her budget was limited to the amount of money she makes. Good luck if you continue drug use though, because my moms life is what you most likely have to look forward to.

She currently can't find a job higher than wal-mart of the equivalent after the age of 40. She has speech issues, trouble understanding simple concepts and poor motor skills. She has an extremely quick fuse to everything, anger, happiness, sadness, etc. and can't control ourbursts of her emotions. This is very minor effects of long term drug usage.

Enjoy your time tripping on ecstasy while you are young, continue it for a few years and you end up like my mom.

    I have a question, actually:

Doesn't ecstasy also cause a lot of suicides because people completely rape their saratonin (sorry, I can't spell... endorphins...) levels, that they can never get that "feel good" feeling again?

Not a user, haven't studied drugs much myself. Just curious.

(Also, why did my Huxley comment receive no love/dem/hate? I was left out)

Spank me if I'm wrong, but DXM doesn't contain Codeine.

If you're not lucky. I've got mates that have been doing E (and other things) for a 'few' years and they're fine, can hold conversations/are succesful. If you're lucky you won't get completely ------ed up.

So you're basing your decision to (possibly) f*ck up your life on luck? Rather intelligent.

As for the whole marijuana not being addictive thing:

It may not be chemically, but here's a question: why is it that, whenever I hung out with my smoker friends when I was in school (most of my friends smoked pot), all they would want to do is get high? To the point of grabbing every pipe in sight to scrape it for resin? To the point of, when deciding what to do with their paycheck, they'd choose an ounce over their monthly Gateway (homeschool) fee?
