CS4. Not necessarily for the features, but the layout. It allows me to work faster. I wouldn't say upgrade from CS3 to CS4, but I had CS2, so it was a huge improvement (especially since I have CS4 extended). CS4 Camera RAW is also vastly improved from all prior versions. Maybe I should say that, while I owned CS2, I regularly use CS3 at school so I can make an accurate comparison. Hopefully they follow through on their promise though. They said we'd have CS4 for winter term.
I don't know how CS4 is for designers, so that could cause some strife. The program was designed for photographers, and Adobe formats it according to a photographer's standard workflow, so I know that it helps me a lot with the new layout . They're trying to add more to it, but ultimately it's for photographers. So, I've had this question burning in my head: how does Photoshop improve or worsen a designer's workflow? Is CS3 or CS4 better designed for workflow?
Never used CS4, CS3 seemed to do everything i needed, always had that load problem when first opening the program but other than that it felt fast and effective as soon as you could get your head around it.
Before my HD tanked, CS3 worked like a charm. After I got it replaced, the one I installed and re-installed a few times because of this problem, started major lag time where I'd have to sit and wait for things to open. I have cs4 now, and I really hate the tabbed versus window (which you have to keep manually changing with each doc you open). But it works the same as cs3. Also Adobe is not for photographers. Why do you think they have the "DESIGN Premium"?
I would say, go with CS4 if you are not using CS3 but if you Have CS3, I actually prefer it. Also, for what you get compared to what it costs, the upgrade just is not worth it to me, I don't have the money laying around. That said, I don't make my living off photoshop either, so I guess it depends on your preference and situation.
You're right. Adobe isn't for photographers. Photoshop is. Since we were only discussing Photoshop, I wasn't aware that it was necessary I specify <_< I like the tabbed system. I sometimes find myself with over thirty windows open, so it helps keep chaos away. If I don't want to deal with sliding the tabs over, I just go to window and find the picture I want in there. The only thing I don't like is when I'm manually doing composite photos, I have difficulty sliding layers from one document to another. They need to make it so that if you hover over a tab with a selection, it will automatically select that tab.
I like both equally. I haven't noticed much difference between them. I haven't tested out the new feature though.
i have cs3 at one house and cs2 at the other, cs2 seems a little blocky to me, but with most of the same features as cs3, i prefure cs3 tho, just cos it feels sexier.
