Well, I've been enjoying this style since the one in my sig space right now... so I figured I should be trying it more with actual renders. I remembered the character (Canti from FLCL) because I just got a bass for christmas, and the ongoing musical humor (used to be a violinist in an orchestra) was that the bass = base. Hence the name, yadda yadda.... here's the tag:

This one (above) is a little darker... thought it'd pop more on the dark forums... the one below is more vibrant... but brighter.

Yea after posting both here I was like... v1... ehhhhhhh..... lol thanks for commenting

 

I actually prefer v1, has a more contrasted feel to it imo, but that might be a matter of tastes.
I like the tag anyway, even tho I'm not sure about the text. the concept is ncie, but i think you overdid it a little

 

Tried to just kinda use the shadows on the sides to put more emphasis on the render and not the dead space.... cut down the effects on the text, and kept the greater contrast & vibrance in.



what do you think?

edit: changed it already... that was too much

 

v3 is my favorite, text looks better now, and the shades make it look less empty.
