Make a new name for the holiday and call it good. It obviously isn't "Christmas" anymore and people shouldn't even pretend to be celebrating it as such.

Thankfully, where I work, no one cares what we say. I don't really say anything unless a customer brings it up anyway. I broke off wishing people a merry Christmas or happy holidays because in middle school everyone made such a big deal of it that I just stopped saying anything. And let's face it, having a nativity scene set up or wishing someone a merry Christmas isn't really going to offend anyone :P.

Oh well. People are just way too easily offended.

Damn those Christians for wanting a holiday named for their savior called "Christmas." Can't a religious holiday be more... non-religious?

(seriously, even though I don't believe, it's still Christmas.)

I remember when I worked at a grocery store, I'd tell people "Merry Schnucking Christmas." Clever puns.

So last week, she sent a baked protest to a holiday party at her first-grade son's school: a chocolate cake with vanilla frosting and red icing that spelled out "Happy Birthday Jesus.

^^ That is what the lady wrote. lmaooo

Because clearly, the only holiday that occurs in December and early January all around the world is christmas.

Sorry, we don't know who celebrates kwanza, christmas, new years, etc. so the best way to combine all the celebrated holidays of the various cultures throughout the world is to say, 'happy holidays'. Rather than saying, 'have a merry christmas, happy kwanza, happy new year, and a multitude of other cultures in which I am ignorant to because I haven't taken the time to think of others' we say, 'happy holidays'. Screw all the self righteous and ignorant bible thumpers who believe their personal opinion should exceed the value of each other individuals beliefs in the entire nation and better yet, a good majority of the english speaking world.

For the record, Christmas isn't popularized by Christians, its popularized by Santa, and the media. If the whole process of gift giving and merry making wasn't tied into the spiritual / religious holiday, do you have any clue how many people would actually celebrate it? Or how many businesses would actually care about giving it off here in the states? Keep religion and business / politics out of the same bracket, they are two completely different areas and neither should interweave. Christmas wouldn't even be the equivalent of Easter, another major Christian holiday. Why is Easter popular? The easter bunny, and gifts, and easter egg hunts, all, once again, brought forth by the media.

@Dem: the problem that these people are complaining about isn't the whole issue about the other holidays, it's that people refuse to teach where Christmas even came from. My old high school was one of the few schools that would have Christmas music with Jesus directly mentioned in it, and that's because we cared more about classics than being PC. It's just stupid to allow decorations for every other holiday, and then not allow a nativity scene to be set up because it might offend someone (and yes, a nativity scene represents the holiday more than a stupid tree). If we're going to be equal, stop being so stupid. As it is, I expect people to dislike Christians even more in the future, so I don't really care about this trivial matter :P

And even though it isn't celebrated as a religious holiday, people should still understand why it is a holiday. At the rate we're going, no one will have a clue in fifty years except us old folks.

That aside, I don't really care about nativity scenes. They inaccurately portray it anyway. If I were Mary, I'd be a bit freaked out being a 14 year old new mother with a son that everyone is calling a manzer (very rude way of saying illegitimate child in Hebrew). And what woman is able to stand up or not be a sweaty wreck after giving birth anyway?

And one of the complaints was they teach the origin of Kwanzaa and Hanukkah... but I never learned those in school. Heck, I still don't really know them... maybe I should research that. Anyway, I only learned about the presidents' birthdays when I was in public school :P

Drax: Christmas wasn't started as a pagan holiday. It became an official holiday on that particular date to cover up a pagan holiday :P. They celebrate completely different things.

The media is stupid. I just want to say that. It has no relation to this topic.
