True that, hate those type of drivers as well. I just pass them on the right then though and give them my mean gaze. Funny thing is that they believe they're in their right and then they sometimes give you the finger. Honestly, they should kill those kinda people, or at least take away their driver's licence.
I always drive on the left side, simply because I'm never the person getting passed. I always do the passing.
On a highway, yeah, you should try to follow proper lane-ettiquette. But if I've got a left turn up ahead, then I'm going to be in my left lane, even if I am 1-3 interesctions early. It's proactive driving. Same goes with access roads. If you know they're coming up, (especially if it's a busy parking lot and people are often coming out) then you should be in the left-hand lane to minimize risk. I don't do too much passing, myself. The most amount of driving I do is at night, and up here the roads are really icy and dangerous right now to be speeding. Plus check stops, police activity and speed traps are common.
