I've had 2 boxes RRoD and it took a month each time.

    Oof?
What the hell do you people keep doing to your consoles? 3/4 RROD you're doing -something- wrong. I've got a release 360.

    Anyway.
You can induce RROD (Or sometimes cure it) by turning the 360 on and then covering it in layers of towels.

MS support's really good at replacing the consoles most of the time though

The towel thing only works temporally. When my first 360 went down due to a power surge and it would no longer turn on Microsoft said they wouldn't replace it under warranty and I would have to pay like $150 at the time to get it fixed, so instead I sold it on ebay for $130 broken and bought the H3 one.

That's good. I've never heard of it taking more than a month, but if that's your main gaming system, can be annoying especially if you just got a new game or something lol.

My 360 is from release, and it got RRoD, but I fixed it myself, and it's been fine ever since (happened in February.)

I had a RRoD once...(Atleast I think it was a RRoD...it had red but not sure how many) so I turned off my 360, turned it back on and continued playing.

that's just a red ring of kinda not working well atm.

RROD means it will never work again.

Haha, I seriously don't remember how many lights it had as it went by too fast.

I had always assumed it was the RRoD because I thought it had all 4 but maybe it was just the overheat one? Hmm...either way, I haven't seen red since...well except when I blow some Brotherhood head off in Saint's Row 2.

Take it apart, remove the clamps that look like an X on the bottom, replace them with bolts, add more thermal paste stuff, and there you go.

There are many kinds of RRoD causes, that one fixed mine. Look it up. :P

That is the most common and cheapest fix known.

I thought it's sometimes just a problem with the solder, so if you're particularly savvy you can do it yourself.

I may be wrong, never had to deal with it.
