    I was wodnering what all of you use as your anti-virus/anti-spyware, etc on your computers. Also.. What Firewall do you use if you have one?

    I am going to be getting a MacBook in a month or so when I get the funds and want to get a good Anti-Virus, etc software to use on it as well as a good firewall.

    What do you use on your computer?

    Also, what Firewall do you use?

    Thanks.

    - Deven.

    im not sure what kind of firewall we have set-up but our wireless is password-protected (and i know we have a firewall). Also, like xlink said: i have a script blocker in firefox and i browse safe.

    i have had zero problems with security. its really a non-issue for me.

    You really don't need one.

    All you need is some good browsing skills, example no porn or warez on your computer.

    Other than that...got no clue for macs. Never really use them..

    Porn and warez are fine as long as you actually know what files you're getting. As long as you use sites that you know are legit, and have managed content, you should be fine.

    The chances of getting a virus on a Mac...too slim to worry about at the moment.

    @MP,

    The chances of getting a virus full stop is slim, but that doesn't stop millions of people around the world installing anti-virus software, does it?

    Actually, it's very common to get viruses on a PC.

    Well, considering I reformat every 1-2 months, with a completely fresh install of Vista, I have good browsing habits, use a script blocker to prevent sites from running scripts, I really don't see how I can be vulnerable. I have literally only ever encountered a single virus on both this computer I'm using now, and the one I had prior to it. If I somehow managed to get a virus that I wasn't aware of, it certainly hasn't done any damage, therefore I fail to see how it was successful at causing any harm.

    Yes but you aren't most people. Most people don't understand what a reformat is...
