So, as it stands, I'm a very amateur photographer. I use a film camera [Cannon EOS 650 with a 35/105mm lens], and I'm just starting to get used to it. Most of my shots are Macro, since I feel strange taking pictures of people. I need a new camera because half of the photographs I took have a massive black line across the top half of them from my defunc. shutter.

So, anyway, these are some pictures I took while walking around my apartment complex. None of them were set-up.
*All were scanned into my computer, cropped, and a few had slight editing jobs*

What do you think? Any advice is greatly appreciated :]

Well, unfortunately I know nothing about film, so I can't help you there. Have you taken any film classes? I've discovered that if you let a photographer have free reign in a dark room they can do some pretty amazing stuff.

The main thing I'm seeing is that you fell for the greatest trap: always having your subject in the center. To have a more interesting composition, photographers tend to use the Rule of Thirds, which is more likely to lead the eye around the entire image verses going straight to the center. Always ask yourself: how can I separate this photo from all the others? The answer generally will rely on composition and perspective.

You're good with color though, maybe focus on that for your shots :D.

Meh, my brain farted, so we'll leave it at the pictures have great color. The problem with learning on film is you waste a lot of money just trying to learn :P

I'm actually in Photography 1-2 in my high school, and we can only use Black and White film, so this was all just experimentation.

I tend to forget the rule of thirds, and when I don't, the pictures tend to look a little funky. With the lens I have, it's hard to a lot of the shots I'd like to do without having it the subject directly centered. I'm going to get more film tomorrow, though, so I'll take that advice :]

I'm hoping I can buy a DSLR by Christmas, or get one from a family member for Christmas, but it's a long-shot either way.

I added more pictures to my DA, and was hoping for some more advice, criticism, and so on?
    Anything is helpful! :]
