    well here's my situation.

my computer used to freeze a lot so i thought it was some kind of virus, I then reformatted my computer and reinstalled windows xp. I later find out that the cause of the problem was with the graphic card drivers. When ever i install my graphic card driver it begans to freeze and not work. when i uninstall them it works better it doesnt freeze but it goes a little slower. i have always used the same drivers and i dont know whats wrong now.
my graphic card is nvidia geforce 5500 128 mb

get a new gfx card, you can use an upgrade anyways =]
you could always use the default windows drivers for the card, you might loose a little, not to much though.

If he's using a 5500 chances are it's PCI, or possibly AGP, but definately not PCI-E, you twats.
