Make 100% sure it has a PCI-E x16 2.0 slot available and upgrade that card ASAP, then you are good to go.
long story short, not a good gaming system. no, 3rd party support was ----. I want you to take an original release disc and try it. then install SP1 and tell me if you can tell the difference... bet you cant... it wasn't vista, it was everything else. Blame nVidia, blame ATi, blame 3rd party software providers.
I installed Vista about 2 weeks after it's release, and the only thing that had any issues was my Creative X-Fi ( Creative are terrible with driver support) and my wireless PCI card... switched back to XP for 2 months, then reinstalled it. Support for these was much better, and I've never run into compatibility issues since.
if you go on such a strong computer, i recomand you to put 4GB in the RAM. that's an awsome computer, enjoy.
ehh, the amount of RAM included with a computer doesn't even matter anymore 4GB RAM is $35... if you look around and find some on sale, you might be able to get a 4GB kit for something in the 20s... RAM is dirt cheap. and kovan...that system + a 4850 and you're gold.
so, your pc crashes when running reasource heavy programs? Not vista's fault, your PC isn't powerful enough. I have XP and Vista on different machines and my XP crashes out ahelluva lot more because my setup isn't as powerful. You can customise the startbar if you have any sense at all, although I cant see that much difference between the XP and Vista start bars. They look different at first glance but in reality are almost identical in functionality. Vista is only slow if you have a ---- computer. My internet always connects too fast for me to notice on both XP and Vista. I think your problems with Microsoft stem more from having a ---- computer.
By internet connecting I meant when I first got the computer. It took me a day and a half to get the driver support for the modem itself, then the router to work. On linux all I had to do was plug it in and it worked. But yeah, some of my problems do stem form the fact that my computer is a bit outdated. Regardless, Microsoft OS's are crash heavy when compared with Mac and Linux.
sorry if it sounds stupid but what's a 4850 ? .. do you mean the RAM ? i'm not planning to use it for gaming only, i just want to make sure that cod5 and need for speed:undercover will work on it they don't even have to played at high settings, those are the only games i'd like to play on this pc for the rest, i plan on using it for everything actually photoshop, internet etc, etc ...
it isnt packard hell sucks ass lets someone here sample a computer and build it yourself or let it build.. its cheaper and better
no it's not packard bell is ok xD sorry if it sounds stupid but what's a 4850 ? .. do you mean the RAM ?
http://google.com/
:shaggy:
OEMs cut corners FYI. Packard bell if they mantained their quality since the early 90s is OK. not good, not horrible, OK. My first computer was a PB back in 1993. They don't do business in North America anymore though
