ok so my brother got this computer, i'm getting in about 1 week or so i just wanna know if it's a good computer .. and also if it's okay to play games on it like call of duty 5 i know it's not the best computer xD but i don't know much about computers, so Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 2330 MHz 3072 Mb monitor 19 inch GeForce 9300 GE 256 Mb onboard High Definition Audio 7.1 SATA 320 Gb 7200 RPM USB 2.0, FireWire, Ethernet, DVI-I, HDMI Windows Vista Home Premium DDR2 SDRAM DVD±RW DL, geheugenkaartlezer
why does everyone hate vista xD .. i have no problems with it tbh can you tell me what's so bad about vista ?
Looks good to me. Quad Core 2 Processor Anyhow, I suggest upgrading the Graphics Card from 9300 to either a 8800 or 9800 but if you've got the guts and money I suggest ATi Radeon 4870 I have it and it freaking rocks. Though I got Crossfire x2. I would provide links for 8800 or 9800 but i don't know what motherboard you got.. Also you did not list the GB or MB of ram that you have? is it one of these? 1024? 2048 4096 8192 Etc... If it is over 2GB then good for Vista if not then get more. Zain.
Vista is the best operating system out there in the world right now. Some people just don't want to look on the bright side of Vista like better menu bars, speed and other things that there are... The ones who hate it are just more used to XP or other Windows Operating Systems. But in my books vista takes the lead. It is just like Xen said, they just want to follow the trend and slag about vista Just remember that Vista will be the only running operating systems out there as XP and other Windows systems wont be receiving any updates or anything in the next few years. Zain.
vista was horse---- on release but as of SP1 its 99% fine (aside from SP1 corrupting my WMI >_> ) the graphics card is a bit meh too.
Well if you think about it that way then go back to when XP was released. No one was quite sure on whether or not to make the dang switch. Right? Every operating system needs a year or two before it can be widely used by everyone. Mostly all the computer sale companies like Dell / Alienware, HP, Voodoo, Gateway, Newegg, Asus, and others have switched to Vista Home Premium SP1 since its release. We just need to give it a rest and some time. Zain.
most systems do, or at least 5.1 but its usually a intergrated realtek chip which puts strain on the cpu
it has 3027 MB .. as mentioned above .. i believe it's good enough xD it's just the brand name of the computer, doesn't make things different really packard bell is a good brand name
Looks good, but that GeForce 9300 onboard's gonna struggle a little with COD5. I'd recommend you buy a better graphics card at the same time.
Microsoft has a track record of terrible operating systems. Vista is no exception. The thing likes to die on me while I'm running photoshop, especially when I'm doing something larger than 4000 pixels. I don't like the way it's organized. I prefer to be able to access all my options when I first start up my Control Panel, I don't like the stupid category crap. Vista is SLOOOWWWWW. Takes forever to get connected to the internet. Always has with Windows and a router. With my Ubuntu I just plugged it in and it worked immediately. Linux ftw. Mac, eh. So, yeah, Xen, maybe you should ask my reasons for disliking Vista before grouping me with "stupid" people.
FYI, when working on canvas' of resolutions larger than 4000px, any OS is likely to lock up... it's more likely your PC isn't specc'ed high enough. I have a C2D, 2gig of RAM and 2 8800GT's, and mine still tends to lock up sometimes when trying to work with large canvas'. However, Vista has better memory management than XP, so since he'll be running 3gig, he'll get better performance out of it than XP.
