unless its a chosen course, the class want to go into graphic design industry theres no real need to worry them about colour modes, RGB would suffice for beginners and a simple 72 for web 300 for print DPI would be fine imo
High pass became essential when I realized how powerful it was (yes, it relies fully on myself). If used in conjunction with the unsharp mask, or even standing alone, you'll find your results are pretty amazing. Personally, I believe every digital photographer needs to know about it, but I doubt they do, seeing as my teacher had no idea. Remember: Photoshop is (or was initially) primarily designed for photo editing. Graphic designers have just hijacked our program Don't forget to tell them to always have their workspace in Adobe RGB! It's way awesomer than sRGB and no amateurs ever know it :'(
Why use CMYK? It has less colors... The only real reason to use that particular gamut is if you plan on submitting to a printer, and even then, designers will work in RGB. RGB gives 16,777,216 colors, while CMYK gives 1,000,000 colors. I can tell you that after pushing a few buttons, CMYK doesn't have as many variations of orange and makes one of my stocks look icky. http://www.harrywaldman.com/June%2014%2004%20Pbol.html
Thanks for all the comments and help on this. Keep in mind that signature art is just a small part of photoshop.. a really small part actually
Trying to remember if you made Tags Bratz..? eh? If so once I get PS CS4 Installed later today ... wanna do a battle if you're up for it? Zain.
urg, me and tags? Jeez... rofl Erm, yeah.. supply me with a render we both use lol //// getting owned :-/
Alright I'll make a request in the Battledome thingy.. Btw you need to pay 100credits to battle...lol..and you've got -4788989564651351986351581 Credits. Hm...*thinks* Hm..how do we do this? Should I just make a post and we battle for fun the Battle Arena or something? Like win/loose no one gets charged for the battle or something like that...though the rules don't say that ... *think* *think* *thiiinnnkk* ..waiting for a brain blast thingy Zain.
Considering I work for the UK's largest printing and graphic design franchise and use CMYK for all work we do, i'd say the designers work in CMYK.
Interesting, didn't know that. I guess if all your stuff is printed though, it makes sense. I just assumed you were an amateur who liked what it did (seeing as most members here are amateurs). As far as I know though, RGB really is overtaking CMYK in design. I'll see what the graphic design students are working in at my school. If they use CMYK much, than RGB taking over is just a rumor to be ignored. I have to work in RGB since cameras don't have CMYK, so I'm biased anyway and generally only hear the RGB side of things Zain, I can give credits if necessary, I don't know how that would work though, since I can't give any to Bratzer, it'd still be in the negatives, lol. PM me if you want to discuss this. Now it can be back on topic.
Personally I think the only place to start is with the color spectrum. Let them learn as much as they can about colors, they can't really create anything aesthetically pleasing if they can't match their colors correctly. Also as for a project, have them vector another students face, or their own. It might be a little hard but if you're really going to teach them all that, it's the best way to test it, isn't it?
We all use CMYK and RGB all of the damn time. What is wrong with you people??? RGB is used when you view the images on your computer and create *pretty* Artwork from RGB images that you find online via resource sites. CMYK is used every time you print a damn image. Every image is converted into the format of CMYK when it is sent to the printer via your computer. It is easier for the printer to print in the format of CMYK because you use white coloured paper all of the time and since CMYK is a Substract model, the white does not concern the printer thus ignoring the colour when you print on that particular colour. It is easier to understand if you ever take Computer Engineering course in College and go on to take the CS 173 or something which actually takes you in depth in the hardware part of the process. CMYK On the other hand... RGB Use sites like Wikipedia or Answers.com to get a better definition of CMYK and RGB then we can further discuss on why each artist out there needs to know what the two Colour Models are and why we need to learn how to use each one. Though there isn't much difference in the foreground of each model, in the background is where all the goodies take place. As for the battle Bratz, we don't really need to do it. I was just saying it for fun, but seeing as you don't have 4758485959 Credits to get your balance back to 0 it can wait. Though if you want I can try to get 5k for you ... Zain.
