Okay, I've got a problem with Adobe Photoshop CS4, I am not able to see the color GRAY while editing anything, and from the color picker. I only see GRAY as BROWN, like literally, I don't even know what the problem is... If someone gets me can you please explain what this is? Does it have something to do with Monitor/Color profiles tab?

    Any help will be appreciated!

It's likely a problem with your monitor... Does it happen outside photoshop?

If it's the same in all your images, it's probably not your color profile. But, just in case, go to edit>color settings>working spaces>RGB

Set it to Adobe RGB 1998 (probably is set to sRGB by default). This is the best gamut available for editing :)

While you're at it... Go to "Color Management Policies" (below Working Spaces) and set RGB to "Convert to working RGB" and select "Ask when Opening" for profile mismatches. This will change all your files to Adobe RGB when you open them, and that allows for more colors and tonal variation.

From the screenshot it does look like you are using the right RGB Profile.

Since the Color Settings did not change, may I suggest a Re-Install of the Adobe Photoshop CS4 Suite?

That helps me with any problem I have with CS3 so try that.

    OMG! No :(

It is on 4 DVD's and 2 CD's, and it takes 3 hours to install! OMG! I don't want to do that again if there isn't a solution, I'd rather go back to CS3.. This Adobe CS4 Production Premium is awesome but I just can't tolerate this problem. Or maybe I can install Photoshop CS3 for my designing work!

But you do see what the problem is in that screenshot, don't you?

    Not the whole problem

Click on the colour picker on the left pannel. Then post a screenshot of that while you select the grey colour.

Then truly we can see the problem.

Also, just re-install CS4 that might be the problem...Hence, I'm waiting till Jan 09 to get CS4 :D

if it's a legal and registered copy, Adobe staff are very nice and willing to help you. And, no offense to GR, they know more than us about Adobe. Register for their forums and post in the Photoshop one asking for help. We might be able to figure it out, but they're solutions tend to work more than anything we could supply here (unless it was Adobe staff here, lol). The user base there is also good: most people who answer questions know what they're doing and why they're answering them.

Until then, as Zain said, we need to see the color picker...

Wow, it really is bad. Hm...don't know what to say mate. Ask an Adobe Support Agent and see what they say or the easy and quick solution would be to un-install Photoshop CS4 from the suite and then plug the CD back in and re-install Photoshop CS4 ONLY. That way you don't need to uninstall the whole suite.

    :)

    Hope it helps.

    Zain.

Hah. I'm sorry but this is really funny. I thought it was a joke at first, until I started seeing your screenshots. I have a question though, has it been like this since you installed cs4?

    Edit: I found this:

    http://forums.techguy.org/digital-photogra...grey-brown.html

It's for Photoshop CS and I didn't read the whole thing but hopefully it will help.
