I believe it was in production before Vista was though. The ideas for Windows 7 (since that isn't the first name it had) came before Windows Vista. Vista development started after Blackcomb (aka Windows 7).

I know design isn't related to functionality. I was saying that Vista took the leaps in design that Windows needed. Trying to get something even better would be a waste of their resources. Thus, functionality should be the main focus. If you look deeply into tech articles about Vista, you'll find, more than likely, that there were and are a bunch of flaws with Vista. Thus, a much more improved and less flawed version of Windows would be good.

As far as that last sentence, yea, pretty much. Vista was horrible. Windows 7 doesn't look like it will be as bad.

I heard this was coming out in 2009, as far as a date goes. I might do some more reading though.

What they need to do is give people the ability to customize the GUI. I would love to be able to set my own F-Keys.

I think they should work on compatibility with other programs.

We're on the same page Remix. I suggested that to them last week. I hope they decide to go with my idea, but I know they won't. It's a longshot.

What wasn't compatible on vista, I mean inless your using something that's from the ME era, Then everything should work.

Edit: Whoops sorry for the double post I thought it would put them together.

Haha, again, it's not Microsofts responsibility to ensure everything's supported. Hell, the only software that really doesn't run on Vista is ones without 16bit launchers, or software without 32bit launchers if you're using x64.

why are they working on a new OS when vista is still flawed?
imo, they should iron out vista before moving on

  11. Vista is a lost cause. The general consensus is that Vista will always have the most problems, and really isn't worth getting.

How many times do I have to say this, Vista is a superior OS to XP. There are no major bugs, no major security holes, and no major compatibility issues. Provided to you meet the minimum requirements, it is faster than XP (My machine with a Core 2 Duo, 2gig of RAM, and an 8800GT gets better performance in games and benchmarks with Vista drivers than XP drivers) and it's got a lot of better features.

There is nothing wrong AT ALL with Vista. I have been using it for over a year daily, and have yet to encounter a problem that did not exist on XP. The only reason people complain about Vista is because they've never used it.
